Locating a Tat Shop

The best way to find a place to get tattooed is by recommendation. Someone has already done the research and feel comfortable going to that place for tattooes.

If you do not have a recommended place, here are some things you should consider when making your choice...

1 Is the shop, in general, and the tattooing room clean? If the place is clean, it can give some indication of the artist's sanitation practices.

2 Ask the artist about the equipment being used. They should be sterilized. Do they remove the sterilized equipment in front of you? What do they do with the needles and such after they are used? These questions will help you determine the sanitation practices with possible bio-hazardly exposed instruments.

3 Does the artist wear latex gloves? He/she should be just as concerned with health risks as the individual getting the tattoo.

4 Talk to the artist about your ideas. Does the artist give you their attention? An impatient artist may do a rush job that may not make you happy with the outcome. Are they understanding what you want? Remember, this is a permanent piece of art that you will want to be happy with.

5 Find out the cost of the tattoo. Having a piece of art put on your body can be expensive. If you think the price is more than it should be, check out another place.

6 The most important thing is that you should feel comfortable at the place you have choosen to have your work done. If, for any reason, you do not feel comfortable, find another place.

7 The probabilty of you becoming a regular at a shop is quite possible. Should you find that you have become less important than other paying customers, find another shop to patron.
