I was asked to make this page for mothers I know whose son's or daughter who are in the service, These are their letters to their children. I want them all to know that we are right there with them. Praying, helping each other as we go though this time in America. One of these letters is to my nephew who joined the Military when he graduated high school . I am very very proud of him. Of each and everyone that has served our country and are serving our country now.  For all that has donated blood , sent in contributions , helped others bake goods to send to  New York and gather necessary items that are needed. The list goes on and on. I've seen wonderful graphics and wonderful pages made and sent in recognition of what has happened. That is what America and Americans are about, Not buildings or money. We are about Our Spirit, The Red White and The Blue, Apple Pie. sitting on the front porch and watching the neighbor kids. When your neighbor is ill you take over supper help the farmer in the fields .  Speaking out and everyone listens . Taking care of each other. Thank You America

( On the letters below I have taken out personnel information)

My dearest son,

Hi Honey, How are you?  We are fine still glued to the TV the minute we walk into the house.  Dad & I keep watching for the latest breaking news.  I hope my letters bring you comfort-the last thing I want to do is make you edgy.  I am sure your mind is working overtime right now.  Be at peace son.  God will take care of you.  He has always kept His hand over ‘our’ family.  What I mean is all the years growing up He was there & I lived thru some pretty tuff stuff!  He has always held us in His arms & I think it is kind of understood by all of us girls that He will protect “our children” & you are MY child.  So be at Peace honey.  I also want to talk to you about what you’re getting ready to embark upon.  I realize that the most demanding of your training is going to start soon.  Believe in yourself & believe in those that believe in you.  Have Faith.  You have an entire family behind you.  You not stand for your self but for all the Americans that have been victims of this terrible evil act.  We as Americans know they will not get away with this act of terrorism.  Dad & I realize that the last part of the training will require all the self determination-courage-and-strength you have inside you & believe you me you have these character qualities.  BELIEVE in YOURSELF and the ABILITIES YOU HAVE.  You got em son.  God gave em to you-reach inside yourself & use em.  Remember the Holy Spirit is there to help you.  That’s His job-that is God’s gift to each of us.  Ask Him for the strength you already have-ask Him to help you use it efficiently & intelligently.  You are such a wonderfully smart young man.  Dad & I are so very proud of YOU*SON*!  Be proud of yourself.  Not everyone can call them selves a Marine.  You will though!  Always be proud of what you have accomplished.  You have come thru a lot!  Remember that Dad & I are behind you 110%!  We are cheering you on son!  May God bless you-and keep-you-and protect you-and keep you safe from all harm.  All our love to you son –Every night dad-& I kneel beside your bed and pray for your platoon & you.  We pray God helps you to gain strength when you think you’re done.  We pray for God to give you desire-when you think you could care less.  We pray God give you whatever you need, whenever you need it most. Always, always,

 Mom and Dad

Dear Son

I am so very thankful that you are still in basic training!  Wow, what a shock to us all, our beautiful country. We can’t believe it.  Every minute we are home the TV set is ON.  We want to keep up on all the latest updates.  President Bush is going to see this thru.  I realize this & also know that he must.  But I am praying for your, all’s safety.  As a mother I am scared to death.  As an American I am mad as hell.  I never thought anyone had the nerve to do that to us.  We are the strongest power in the world.  How arrogant I was.  I am praying for all the victims of this terrible tragedy.  We went to give blood Tuesday the same afternoon this happened. There was a blood drive at the Knights of Columbus Hall & we were there.  I believe that our school is hosting one on the 19th, & we plan to give blood again.  It is a small part, but one we will gladly doing.   I realize this is the beginning of week #10.  I hope your hanging in there.  We are very proud of you & the path you have chosen for your life. Be proud of yourself Son.  What you have accomplished is no small feat!  It has taken-honor, courage & strength!  Don’t you kid yourself.  Not everyone can call himself or herself a MARINE!  Good job!  Even though you’re about to embark on the most demanding part of the training.  Know that you have what it takes.  You have made it thus far-& -you can do it!  I want to tell you this.  God gives us the Holy Spirit to comfort us in times of need.  When we doubt ourselves-or just need reassurance.  He is always at your ready sitting on your shoulder-all you need to do is turn your head & ask Him. He is there & will help you.  Keep remembering that each day ends & tomorrow starts something new.  Each event must end-so that you can learn some new drill the next time.  Dig down deep inside your self & know that others have faith in you.  You’re thought of & remembered especially in prayer much more then you know.  May God bless you-protect you & keep you safe from all harm.

 Love you Mom and Dad

Dearest Friend,

How are you doing?   I hope that this letter brings you comfort.  I am so very thankful that you all are still in basic training.  It is a blessing that I thank God for by the minute!  It is still a shock.  We have seen the planes plowing into the World Trade Center Towers probably a 100x’son the news channels & each & every time it is as though it is just happening.  It is ever bit as devastating as it was the very first “airing.”  Even though this is so very tragic the terrorist didn’t accomplish their goal.  And that was to break our Spirit!  No sir they didn’t!  I pray & will continue to remember the victims of this senseless-evil act.  But, Americans can’t be stomped on by anyone & let get away with it. I as an American realize that President bush must call on the service men & women of our country at this time. That would give you about 20 more extra days to spend with your ma!  I know my son wants this & so do I.  I want to share a piece of information with you that a dear friend shared with me.  A sister helped me thru a very difficult period in my life.  She shared with me how the Holy Spirit is a gift from God to help each & every one of us thru times in our life when we need advice, guidance, or reassurance.  He does this by walking by our side-ever present-ever ready to help us.  All we need do is turn our heads our heads & ask Him J!  He will help!  That’s His job!  Remember to call upon Him as you ready yourself to embark upon the most demanding part of your training.  It will call upon every ounce of self-determination you’ve got.  You can do it!  You have done.  Now finish it.  Not everyone can call himself or herself a Marine!  You will be able to do that.  Have Faith in yourself & those that believe in you.  Draw strength from your platoon buddies-help each other & believe in yourselves. Take care of yourself & May God bless you-protect you –and keep you safe from all harm.  Graduation is in 24 days!  See you then.  All our love & prayers always- your dear friends
