Early in history diamonds were believed to possess magical powers and many legends surround them. Diamonds were worn in battle as a symbol of magic.

Diamonds come from the greek word, "Adamus", which means invincible. Diamonds are the hardest mineral in the world. Not even the most powerful acids can harm a diamonds surface. The people of India believed that diamonds had the power to make them invincible.

20% of diamonds that are found are used for jewelry. The other 80% are used in industry for cutting tools, polishing hard metal, phonograph and videodisc needles, and bearings for laboratory instruments. Diamonds have more value if sold for industrial uses.

Diamond jewellery is the most emotional gift a man can give a women. It expresses deep and sincere feelings of love and affection. The diamond is a common use of engagement or weddings rings. This started many years ago with the egyption belief of the "vein of love". Women wear the engagement ring on the third finger of the left hand because of the egyption belief that the vein of love ran from the heart to the top of that finger.
