MISS AMANDA GOODCAT

1984-2000

"Amanda" means "lovable" or "worthy of love"--and our dear Amanda Goodcat's name fit her purrfectly.

She was: a soul-mate and friend;
a mother's helper--sleeping with the baby in his crib at night, scurrying to check on him when he cried in the daytime;
a protector of our house and yard (saving us on many occasions from a dreadful mouse or mole!);
a jester who could make us smile even when we didn't feel like smiling;
a comforting companion and good listener in difficult times,
a party animal sometimes;
and always an indescribably wonderful cat.

She accepted old age and illness with grace. She was always her same sweet but dignified self, even when she was sick and in pain at the end of her sixteen years. We learned so much about life and about ourselves from her--she brought out compassion and caring in us that we didn't know we had.

We loved Amanda dearly when she was with us--and we love her still as she lives on in our hearts and memories.

With love from Amanda's Adopted Mom
