Tiffany had her first racing experience while she was still in the womb. Her mother was driving the course at Road Atlanta in April, 1979, while she was three months pregnant with Tiffany. It was not until she was eighteen months old that she was fitted for her first racing suit. It was a gift from the makers of her father’s racing suit and was for show purposes only, but this put the racing hooks in Tiffany. She owned more toy cars than dolls throughout her childhood.
Tiffany has close family ties to racing. While growing up, she watched her father race in IMSA races across the nation in the 1970’s and 80’s. Helping with the engine work was part of her up bringing. On the other hand her mother has been an On-track Emergency Medical Technician for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1995, serving as an ambulance driver for the drivers of NASCAR, IRL, and Formula I. It is now apparent that it was truly inevitable that Tiffany has become involved in racing; it has been in her blood since before she was born.
In 1996, at age 16 she raced competitively for the first time. No motor existed in her Soap Box Derby car, but Tiffany learned the important basics of racing. She learned how to win, lose, and interact with those she was competing against. She raced for two years in her division before turning too old to compete. It was then when she got the bug for a real car. Tiffany began picturing herself in the same type of car her father drove competitively a decade earlier: a Corvette.
Her parents and Howey Farms are supportive sponsors of her 1985 Stock Corvette. Wanting as much seat time as possible, she opted to start with autocrossing. Being a member of NCCC, she competed in many regional events throughout 2000 and 2001. She joined the SCCA in 1999 and began competing in the Indianapolis Region along with numerous other regions across the state of Indiana. She surprised many people by taking the season championship in the Indianapolis Region Novice class in 2000 and SSL class in 2001.
She is only beginning to work toward her goal of racing on a full time circuit. Road courses are her first love, but oval racing is not far behind. Getting behind the wheel in any competitive and professional situation is her dream and goal. By obtaining as much seat time as possible and constantly learning the tricks of the trade will propel her well into her goals.
Tiffany currently attends Purdue University, where she is working toward a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. During her spare time she enjoys taking photographs, reading, writing short stories, and traveling.
