Bryan James Swygart

1981 - 1999

Forever Young

Too soon, our friend Bryan was taken from us. We hope, here, to share our memories of Bryan so that the world may know what he meant to us.

Bryan was born with a serious heart defect. Numerous surgeries and medications left him a weak child who was not supposed to live past the age of 8. He not only survived, but grew into a wonderful, active young man. His heart condition was always a concern, but he LIVED. His favorite activity was roller skating. For three years he worked at the Plymouth Skating Palace as the resident "skate guru", "music dude", and guardian of our youngest skaters. He spent his free time at the rink, too, playing roller hockey with his friends.

On Saturday, April 3, 1999, shortly before the evening skating session, while he and his friends were playing roller hockey, Bryan Swygart collapsed. He died shortly thereafter. He spent his last moments of life doing what he loved best...skating. In his honor, nearly 100 of his friends from the rink skated behind the hearse that carried him to his final resting place.

In the guestbook, we invite his friends and anyone else who feels moved to do so, to leave a message, a memory, or a word of encouragement in Bryan's honor.
