Routinely, evidence and information is withheld that would prove a defendant innocent...

The "authorities" involved in this case pursued their own idea of justice by lying, withholding evidence, distorting facts, engaging in coverups, even paying for perjured testimony with a known government informant - a violent career criminal.

As in recent wrongful conviction cases involving Joseph Salvati and Peter Limone, James Rodwell has been behind bars for half his life now for a crime he did not commit. No eyewitness, no fingerprints or other forensic evidence, no weapon - nothing! Nothing to warrant a conviction except the testimony, the "word" of David Nagle.

Unbeknownst to the jurors in the Rodwell trial, and to the Rodwells as well, David Nagle had been acting as a police and government informant at least since 1974. David Nagle, an informant who has provided information to, or worked as a paid informant for, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the FBI, the US Department of the Treasury, State Police, Boston Police, Brookline Police, Watertown Police - among others.

In 1998, an article appeared in Worcester Magazine, written by Doug Hanchett, that stated David Nagle was then incarcerated at the Northamptons Hampshire House of Corrections where he is serving 20-25 years for armed robbery. Before being jailed there, he was sentenced on a variety of charges that taken together, could have kept him in jail for up to 165 years! But, until his current incarceration, he spent fewer than 8 years behind bars. "It was like having a get-out-of-jail-free card," Nagle says of his work as an informant.

The enormity of the injustice of an innocent person, falsely convicted and sentenced to spend the rest of their life behind prison bars, is in itself a crime of major proportions. A crime of major proportions has been committed against James Rodwell, right here in Massachusetts. 19 years spent fighting the red tape, the delays and the coverups.

It is so very important that a free press keep the public informed of the facts in this case, and all cases tainted by informants, informants like David Nagle.
