Okay it's time for "Precious Words", my wrestling column.
I'm Jenna, Precious is an a.k.a. I'm a 21 year old woman from Northwest Indiana & I love sports entertainment.
I say I love sports entertainment instead of saying I love wrestling, because I love all aspects of the business. Yes, I do love the wrestling but I don't think it would be the same without the entertainment value. Don't get me wrong the matches are great but when they have a good story line to build them up they are 10 times more appealing.
Some people say wrestling would be better without all the drama, I disagree. What's action without suspense? The wrestlers feed to our emotions. They give us a reason to cheer or jeer them. Even I sometimes think they go to far with gimmicks but who are we to judge. Almost every superstar in the industry will tell you how much their gimmicks are a part of their real personalities.

Also, so what if the ending is known before hand. Why would most people give credit to a stunt person before they would a wrestler? They both do the same thing with a few differences.

  1. 1. Stunt people have more takes to get it right, wrestlers are live in front of an audience (of usually thousands among thousands of people) and have only one chance to do it right or else the whole world sees them mess up, unlike a stunt person.
  2. 2. True, stunt people do take a lot of risks but so do wrestlers. Would you ever consider climbing to the top of the hell in the cell cage to be thrown off threw an announce table? Or how about climbing to the top of the titan tron to jump off onto someone else. I could name a thousand incidents but I've made my point on this issue.
  3. 3. Most stunt people do the job sometimes not even knowing what it's going to be used for. Wrestlers don't get that advantage they have to show as well as perform. Meaning they must act as well as wrestle, hence the entertainer word I like to use so much. Wrestlers have more responsibilities as to the outcome of the show than a stunt person does with a movie.
  4. 4. I'll leave you with one last point in this debate. Wrestlers do not get to have nearly as many safety precautions as stunt people do.

I want to make it clear that I'm not saying stunt people don't deserve respect for what they do, because I respect each and every one of them. But, at the same time I'm trying to make the point that wrestlers deserve a lot of respect as well. For putting themselves on the line and in the spotlight every night to entertain us.

Now, with all that said I invite one and all. Fans or not, believers or not come and read. It might open your minds a little. I plan on having many different opinionated columnists. For now there's just me.
