As if these pages are ever finished!
My wife and I live on a small 11 acre lifestyle block in the hills of the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.
It
sure beats city living though with the peace and quiet of the country.
Well not quite - anyone who thinks the countryside is silent is dreaming.
Sure you dont have to put up with traffic noise all week or lawnmowers and teenagers stereo's blaring all weekend.
Out here we have animals, birdlife, topdressing aircraft, farm dogs, oh and teenagers too - but it SEEMS quieter - you can actually hear the neighbours dog two farms away instead of just the one over the street.
'Lifestyle'
is the local term for a big black hole in the countryside where you throw
your chequebook and labour in for little or no return, while you attempt to be a farmer.
It also serves as a constant source of amusement to the real farmers who must
often roll about laughing at times !!

The local area is called MANAWAHE and is centrally located between the geothermal area and lakes of the Rotorua district in the west and Whakatane on the coast to the east.
You
will have a hard job to find it on a map but we are pretty proud of our
little corner of paradise here.
If
you want trout fishing all year round or water sports in a pristine lake at one end, bush
walks in the pleasant rural countryside on your way through, open season and licence free deer stalking nearby
or just to relax on the ocean beach in solitude at the other end - we have it all.
While Rotorua has been famous as a tourist destination for many years, Whakatane is rapidly gaining ground with it's deep sea fishing and tours to White Island the active volcano only 30 miles offshore.
OK, I have 2 more pages here.
The first has a bit of history, but is mainly about the local Manawahe district.
Then it is on to a page with links to some interesting sites on the internet, with New Zealand Tourism and scenic links and others of interest. Just click on the arrows to head in the direction you wish to go.
and from there to a page of interesting links.
