Knoch Knights Make Unbelievable Comeback and Win Their First Section Championship.

SAXONBURG, PA: After starting their season with a 3-5 record, it seemed literally impossible for the Knoch Knights to win a Section Championship. The Butler Eagle (P.A.) made a likely preseason prediction, putting the Knights close to last place in their section. After being made underdogs, even by their own fan support, the underestimated Knoch Knights Baseball Team made an unbelievable turnaround in their 1999 season by winning 12 games in a row to secure a section championship.  Congratulations goes out to those players, coaches, parents, and fans involved. The Knights were successful due to every player's will to work together to win baseball games.  Everyone on this team wanted to win and did whatever they could to win.  A five run deficit that is crucial to average teams didn't run its route on the Knights as all 15 varsity players did whatever they could to fight back to victory. There wasn't any selfishness, there was no arrogance and there were no individuals that were a part of the 1999 varsity program. The Knights played for each other to win games and it showed in the first playoff appearance in school history. Though the town of Saxonburg was in pure excitement at the Knight's first championship, that excitement went numb in the Knight's first playoff appearance. Going into the 7th inning of the first round of the WPIAL AAA Playoffs, the Knights were up by 3 runs, led by homers of Dustin Thompson and Justin Woodrow, (after 15 foul balls) who later was drafted in the 6th round by the St. Louis Cardinals. Through the barnburner (hahaha isnt that a joke...), the Ringgold Rams came back and took advantage of three last inning errors and defeated the Knights 13-10. Though the 1999 season ended in disappointment, this website is a tribute to a group of underestimated athletes who proved that teamwork is the common thread for success.
