Do you wanna be a millionaire? That seems to be question on everybody lips these

days, but ABC is not the one asking this time. The largest backer of this project just

happens to be CBS. IWon.com was launched just over a month ago and has already

"given away over $350,000", (newsletter@help.iwon.com). This site is a search engine

set up with your own personal preference. It also just happens to be the Internet's

largest cash giveaway. It has great compainies backing it, a wonderful search engine,

and not to mention a chance of winning $10 million dollars on Tax Day, iWon has

something to arouse even the biggest skeptics.

Brief History

The history of iWon is very short history, because it was only launched a

little over a month ago. This wonderful site was launched by two business men on

October 5, 1999. Some of there main backers are CBS, eShare.com, Weather.com,

Travelcity.com and Monster.com. It's main function was to "provide our registered

members with both relevant information for sources that they know and trust, and

have a fun, exciting, and interactive experience" (Who We Are). They launched $40

million advertising campaign with spots running on TV and radio from October through

April. They will have five television spots and three radio spots. The radio spots are

running in over 30 different markets.

How Does It Work?

First, you have to sign-up, which isn't the tough and run through some legal stuff. That

will give you access to the home page. The page is set up with the search engine at the

top for easy access. The rest of the page contains thing like, Today's Weather, Daily

Horoscope, and Scores. These are all personalized for you and your local area.

They also have things like Shopping, Web Directories and Tools, and the Stockmarket.

Each time you click on any selection you get a number of entries to win the cash.

They have a drawing daily for $10,000, monthly for $1 million, and $10 million on Tax

Day. Each option has a number before it, that is what tells you how many entries you

get. The only catch is that you can only get 100 entered a day. The winners are

notified by e-mail.
