On Wednesday, May 2 the Haskell Middle School staff received some news that was highly anticipated and very exciting! ABCUSD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ron Barnes introduced Haskell's new principal to the Haskell staff at an after school meeting in the school library.
We are pleased and proud to announce that Dr. Susan L. Hixson has been named by Dr. Barnes and the ABCUSD Board of Education as the new principal of Haskell Middle School.
Dr. Hixson comes to Haskell after a highly successful 10 year career as an adminstrator in the ABCUSD. Dr. Hixson's experience in ABC includes stops at Carmentia Middle School as Guidance Adminstrator, Faye Ross Middle School as Assistant Principal and, most recently, Principal of Burbank Elementary School. Before coming to ABC, Dr. Hixson was a teacher and administrator in the Norwalk-LaMirada Unified School District.
Dr. Hixson indicated to the assembled Haskell staff that she was "thrilled and excited" at having the opportunity to come to Haskell and that returning to the middle school level as "a dream come true."
Dr. Barnes indicated that he felt that Dr. Hixson was "a perfect fit" for Haskell and that he was truly pleased at having the opportunity to assign such a qualified and capable administrator to lead Haskell.
Dr. Hixson will continue her duties for the remainder of the year at Burbank while beginning the transition to Haskell. Dr. Hixson indicated that she is looking forward to meeting the Haskell students and community and is planning on spending some time at Haskell as the school year comes to a close.
