New Year’s Resolutions

January is always a time when people find themselves setting new goals, and doing what we call “New Year’s Resolutions”. As a child of God, I think the best resolution we will ever make is found in Matthew 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

We know that we should always put God first, but we all need to be reminded of this, and refocused. Everything that I am and everything that I hope to be is in God’s hands. I stop and think about where I am at, and what God is doing in my life. It makes me wonder, “Where would I (or we) be without God? There are a lot of people (where I am) in desperate, and (what they believe) a hopeless situation, people who feel the world has given up on them, and family likewise.

Do we need to be reminded to take the hopelessness of our situations and place them in the hands of the Lord? God is able to do exceedingly, and abundantly above all that we could ask or think.

I believe that God is speaking to us as we start this new year. I think the He wants us to take His hand, not look at the past, but look to the future. God does not care so much about where we have been as He does about where we are headed. He wants to fulfill His will in our lives, and all He simply asks is that we have faith and trust in Him, and put our lives in His hands.

Have you ever wondered, “What is God’s will for my life?”. I know that I have, always thinking what does God want me to do. I’m sure that I’m not by myself on this one. Think about this… It is not “What’s God’s will for my life?” but “What is God’s will and how does God want me to fit in?” All we have to do is trust Him to show us where He is working and He will take it form there.

Trust in the Lord will all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

If you listen, and obey, God will move in your life.
