Demar's Dream '76Owning a corvette has been a dream since I was old enough to recognize and appreciate what a car was. I can remember being able to point them out to my parents, tell them the year, and describe the specifications by the time I was 10. When I turned 16 and they asked what I wanted for my birthday, a corvette was the only answer I gave. Sure enough, they bought me one...a matchbox. I called my mother on my 43rd birthday and told her I finally bought myself that 16th birthday present, the dream had never died.

Here is my '76 L-48 Stingray. It had been stored for about 12 years before I found it. Although I had always picked up trader magazines and dreamed of buying one, I had seriously been looking for about 6 months when I found this one on the internet. The speedo only registered 57,000 miles and that was noted as 'Actual' on the title. I had all the belts, hoses, brakes, fluids, bearings etc. replaced. A freash paint job, new tires and she was ready to roll! |
The tail is from an '81. I just liked the look of the spoiler better than the rounded tail. As most of you know, Vettes are not cars you can simply drive and forget. They require a great deal of pampering and a willingness to work on them. Since you'll likely be doing allot of the work yourself, I highly recommend www.corvetteforum.com as a place to get a wealth of 'how to' information from other, very friendly and knowledgable corvette owners. |
The next time your cruising through central Indiana, look out your window. I'll be the one grinning and waving! |
