THE TAJ MAHAL

Agra has a magnificient fort and the building which many people come to India solely to see - The Taj Mahal. It is one of the seven wonders of the world. This famous Mugal monument was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, chosen of the palace. It took 22 years to build this monument from 1631 - 1653.

AGRA FORT

A visit to the fort in Agra is a must since so many of the events which led to the construction of the Taj took place here. Construction of the massive Agra fort was begun by emperor Akbar in 1565, addition were made up until the time of his grandson, Shah Jahan. There are many fascinating buildings within the massive walls which stretch for 2.5 km, surrounded by a moat over 10 mtr wide. Inside the fort is really a city within a city.
