TAROT ANCESTOR MEDITATION
by Prairie
This spell was originally posted on Memorial Day:
For this day, I thought I would offfer a Tarot meditation to re-member your ancestors.
Light a candle & place it so it's just out of your line of vision, but still shines on the table in front of you. Put the Wheel of Fortune card on the table or altar. Gaze steadily at the card & imagine the Wheel start to turn slowly in a counter-clockwise direction. Now imagine it getting larger & larger until it towers over you. You step through the Wheel & find yourself in a small cave. You feel warm & protected by Mother Earth. You notice the cave is actually a tunnel. You begin walking down the tunnel, looking around you, marveling at the crystals in the walls & all the beautiful colors. Soon the tunnel widens and you find yourself in a beautiful meadow. The sun is shining, the birds are singing & you see in the middle of the meadow, a group of people sitting in a circle, talking & laughing. You walk closer & recognize your parents. They motion you over & introduce you to the rest of the people there. There is your grandmother & your grandfather. More people keep coming, dressed in strange clothing. These are all your ancestors. They all sit in the circle & you talk to them & get to know them. Talk as long as you want. After a while, you notice it's getting late, so you reluctantly say your goodbyes & promise to come back. You make your way back the way you came & soon find yourself back in the tunnel, then the cave. You have a happy, peaceful feeling inside you. You see the Wheel turning at the entrance to the cave. You step back through the Wheel, then turn & thank the Wheel for showing you the way to the meadow. You watch as the Wheel shrinks in size until it's just a card again. Take a deep breath, thank the Powers-that-be, blow out the candle & have a nice day!!

FULL MOON IN PISCES

In honor of the full moon in Pisces tomorrow, I'm going to do a guided meditation, using the Moon card from The Tarot of The Northern Shadows. I try to use a different deck each time I do a meditation. If you don't have the deck I'm using, don't worry about it, you can still do the meditation. The Moon card's astrological association is Pisces, so this is an especially fitting time to do a meditation with this card.

Get comfortable, someplace where you can see the moon, even if it is only through the window. Close your eyes and see yourself on a path in the woods. The path leads away, around a bend out of sight. Somewhere you hear the sound of water running. You start walking along this path and as you round the bend, you see a small creek. You follow this creek until it widens into a river. You see a boat tied up on the shore. Knowing it's the right thing to do, you step into the boat and untie it. It slowly drifts out into the river. You don't see any means of propulsion, but the boat seems to know where it's going. You lie back and relax, staring at the moon. You notice the shadows on the moon take on the shape of a man and a woman. Funny, you haven't noticed that before. You feel a pull to these figures, as if you have known and loved them forever. You silently call to these figures and they softly answer you in your head. You are able to talk to them and feel their unconditional love for you. You talk to them for a while, asking them questions. They answer all your questions in perfect love and perfect trust. After you've talked with them for a while, you notice the boat is nearing the shore. You look around and notice snow on the ground, but you are not cold. You are perfectly comfortable. A gift from the Moon? You silently thank the Moon for this gift, as you step out of the boat. You notice an igloo on the shore and you walk towards the ice house. You crawl through the door and realize, it isn't an igloo after all! You stand up and realize you are outside in another place. The moon shines on the snow, leaving crisp shadows. A young girl walks up to you and silently looks into your eyes. You see a certain glint in her eyes you can't identify, but you are not afraid. She takes your hand, and tugs gently. You go with her. She leads you into a small clearing surrounded by trees. She kneels down, and pulls you down next to her. You are on all fours and you feel comfortable, as if this was the position you were always meant to stand in. You notice strange new scents on the breeze, scents you've never smelled in your life. Strange, wonderful scents. Your nose twitches with the new odors. You also notice your hearing is more acute. You can hear a mouse rustling under the leaves. You chuckle softly, delighted with these new senses. The chuckle sounds like a soft growl to your ears. You glance over at the girl and, instead of a girl, you see a yearling wolf cub in her place. You are not frightened. You are delighted. You then look down at your hands and notice they have turned into great silver paws. You feel wonderful, more alive than you ever have in your life! You throw back your head and laugh out loud, and it comes out as a long, drawn-out howl! The girl bounds away and you follow her, revelling in these new, powerful muscles. You run and play in the moonlight. You experience a freedom you've never felt before. You are strong, you are powerful. Your fur glistens in the moonlight. Your senses are acute. You feel wonderfully, gloriously ALIVE!!!!! You are a part of the Universe. You can feel your thread in the strand of life. You know, without a doubt, that you belong here. You run with the girl for most of the night, but, all too soon, you notice the moon is slipping down toward the horizon, and you are back in the clearing. You feel yourself change back into human form. For a moment, you regret this form, but you know this is the form you were meant to have. You glance over at the girl, and she is human again, too. You gaze into her eyes and know you are welcome to come back anytime you want, to experience this again, to run with her again. She holds out her arms, and you go willingly into her embrace. She hugs you with muscles surprising in a child so young. You smile, sharing her secret. You turn and crawl back through the entrance of the "igloo". You find yourself facing the boat once more. you climb back into the boat, and the boat once again drifts into the river. It noses its way upstream with no trouble. You lie back and gaze back at the moon. The man & woman are no longer there. You wonder to yourself if this was a gift of the wolf also. The boat bumps the shore gently, and you realize you are back where you started. You climb out, turn once to thank the boat, then start back up the trail. As you return to the place you started, you still feel that sense of being totally ALIVE! You open your eyes and stretch, feeling your muscles. You remember the feeling of belonging. You know you have a place in the universe. You belong here. Smile to yourself, get up and go about your evening with a renewed sense of energy.
Blessed be!

EARTH HEALING
For this meditation, I'm using the Temperance card out of the Spiral deck.   Picture yourself in a long tunnel going underground. The tunnel is dark and chilly, though not exactly cold. You can see a light at the end of the tunnel, and you are walking toward the light. As you get closer, you can hear the sound of water trickling, and birds singing. You smell irises in bloom. It's starting to get warm and it has the feel of spring in the air. You emerge from the tunnel and you see the most beautiful angel! She's pouring something from one cup to another. You think it's water, but when you look closer, you see it looks like liquid light!! She seems very intent on what she is doing, and you don't want to disturb her. You look around and notice some strange things about the landscape around you. The sky is dark, but there's a rainbow in the sky. Irises are growing at your feet. You remember that Iris is the Goddess of the rainbow. It seems appropriate that there would be irises growing under the rainbow. You hear the tinkling sound of a brook cascading gently and you look down & notice the angel has one foot in the water. You look up & realize she has finished pouring the liquid light into the cup & is smiling at you. You smile back & she hands you a cup. You take it, fully trusting in the angel. You raise the cup to your lips and take a sip. The light is a kind of liquid, smooth, and tasting like nothing you ave ever tasted before in your life. The angel speaks, and her voice is like a music you've never heard before, but hope to hear again. She has a message for you. You listen carefully to what she has to say. Store her words away carefully. They are meant for your ears alone. You ask her how to balance Mother Earth. You explain to her that Mom is out of balance. She smiles gently and whispers something in your ear. You realize she is telling you a gentle way to bring balance back to the earth. You smile and resolve to do exactly what she told you, no matter how silly or foolish it may seem. You hand her back the cup, and tell her you will go do what she told you, then you turn and enter the tunnel again. As you walk, the sounds of the Summerland fade behind you, and a new resolve grows in you to help balance Mother Earth. You know how to do it. Now, open your eyes and go do what the angel told you to do!
Blessed be!
