| (1) Patterson won the
Intercontinental Title Tournament, to become the first
WWF Intercontinental Champion. (2) The Ultimate Warrior later had to vacate the Title because he captured the WWF World Title and could not defend both championships. A tournament would be held to fill the vacancy. (3) Mr. Perfect defeated tito Santana in the finals of the tournament, to become the Intercontinental Champion. (4) Shawn Michaels later got stripped of the title due "to failure to meet certain contractual obligations." (5) Razor Ramon defeated Rick Martel to become the new Intercontinental Champion. (6) Due to a controversial title match between Bob Holly and Jeff Jarrett earlier in the card, the title was held up, and this match filled the vacancy. (7) Shwn Michaels forfeited the title to Dean Douglas (his schedueled opponent that night) because he was injured and could not defend his title. Razor Ramon was to take his place in the title match. (8) Due to a controversial title match between Goldust and Savio Vega the week before, the title was held up, and this match filled the vacancy. (9) Ahmed Johnson would later forfeit his title when he was injured at the hands of Faarooq, and could not defend it. A tournament was schedueled to fill the vacancy. (10) Marc Mero won the Intercontinental Title Tournament, to become the new WWF Intercontinental Champion. (11) After Austin was unable to defend his title due to injury, a tournament was called to determine a new title holder. Owen Hart defeated Faarooq in the finals. (12) Austin was forced to forfeit his title to Maivia because he refused to wrestle. (13) Due to injury, Triple H could not defend his title within the required 30 day time period and was forced to forfeit the title. Thus, a tournament was held for the title with Ken Shamrock ultimately winning over X-Pac. |
