Writers and Other Troubadours is an association of writers, musicians, dancers, poets, and other artists which meets regulary to provide a forum for the development and performance of the arts. The group is centered in South Bend, Indiana, and is open to all artists who wish to pursue their crafts.

Writers and Other Troubadours was founded in 1981 by Michael Varga, who had the vision of providing an ongoing vehicle for nurturing the performing arts. Since that time, Writers and Other Troubadors has met in an unbroken series of weekly gatherings at cafes and bistros throughout the South Bend/Mishawaka area.

During the years since its inception, Writers and Other Troubadours has hosted an incredibly rich and varied stream of artists on its stages. These performances have included poets, novelists, playwrights, fiddlers, folk singers, harpsichordists, saxophonists, Middle Eastern dancers, a classical string quartet, an avant garde dance-and-video troupe, a dance company, story-tellers, pianists, drummers, rock-n-roll musicians, electronic musicians, egg throwing, tomato throwing, movie-making, sculptors, photographers, painters, and yarn spinners of every description.

Over the years, Writers and Other Troubadours has consistently maintained two basic tenets of operation: 1) performers are paid for their efforts (half of the door receipts) and 2) each performance includes a block of time set aside for short performances by members of the audience.

The 2001 Winter Season Writers and Other Troubadours Performances were held every month on the second Tuesday night starting at 7:30 PM. There was a $2.00 Donation. (Poetry Slams are always free.)

Performances Live on stage.
