Kirstin without a doubt was smiling as she watched all the familiar faces show their respect and gratitude to her for all that she accomplished while with us. So many lives touched by her heart and soul. Our mission now is to carry on and give as much as we can to fill the void left by her passing. December 23, 2014 (not sure how and where to begin)....I received a text from a friend today around 2:30pm, which read - Kirstin passed away at 1:15pm. I was struck with disbelief, sorrow, sadness, loss, and feelings that cannot be put into words. How could this have happend and why.....to much to sort out, at this moment I am writing. Her dedication, loyalty, and love for the teaching of the game is without comparison. We can never repay her for the endless hours of time spent working with "her girls". Each player carried a special place in her heart....never to be forgotten. She constantly looked out for the best interest of her players whether they were on her youngest teams or in high school. Kirstin always went the extra distance with special awards and gifts for players at the end of a tournament or season. She always made sure the players felt "special" and were recognized for their hard work and contributions to the team. Kirstin was a strong teacher who expected and demanded you give 100%. Her compassion was reflected in her personality and evident as you watched her work. She would do whatever was necessary to bring the best out in her teams. Nobody can take her place in the Fort Wayne Volleyball Club. I will miss her each and every time I walk into a gym. The void left by her passing can only be filled by the memories she has left us and all the years, months, weeks, and days she unselfishly gave us. We miss you Kirstin. May the Lord Bless you and hold you close to his heart forever. Tony November 2014 With great sadness I am writing to inform you that following a series of medical tests, Kirstin Brelsfoard, a coach with the Fort Wayne VBC for the past 17 years has been diagnosed with cancer. Kirstin has been a kind hearted, unselfish, hard working, excellent teacher, who is both loyal and passionate when it comes to all the players she has worked with in our progam. She now faces a battle against stage 4 cancer that was found in her colon, liver, and lymph nodes. Surgery is Monday followed by an aggressive schedule of chemotherapy. Please keep Kirstin, her son Drew, and her husband Craig in your prayers starting now and continuing each and every day until she is fully recovered and back on the court with us coaching.
