Possibly...maybe...

I cannot say that my life has no connection at all to Bjork's. I do not Know her personally, in asmuch as I do not know a lot of people on this large planet personally, but simply know what they do. I mean, i have dreams of Bjork occasionally, but I know it's not really Bjork I'm dreaming of, it's just the idea of her songs in my head, guiding me on to create something [inspiration!]. And thus since I was inspired to create by another creator, then why not reciprocate? Well, a long time ago, back in '97 I thought it would be nice to return the favour of MUSIC to Bjork and give her some music I had made. That was a good idea, right?

I seemed to hope so. I had a copy of one of my tapes at the time, called "x-plane nation" and it was 1997. I had moved to Chicago, for no reason other than to be there. And I heard Bjork would be in Chicago at Tower Records. So I thought, why not go!

(I've told this story countless times, of course, but for this page I thought I would tell a little bit more!)

Well, I must say that the turnout for this little record signing thing was quite large, actually. I had come prepared with headphones for the long walk from the train station (I took the train from Hammond to Chicago), and got there quite early to be at the front of the line. Well, I had the chance to chat with some other people who were in line, named Brian and Mike. Brian has mailed me some stuff a couple of times, really nice, and Mike showed me that Chicago has buses and i didn't have to walk quite so much. But I stood in line with my backpack on ready for anything, plenty of art supplies... just in case.

I also saw Novagirl here, but as the song goes, "i missed her but I haven't met her yet".. that was the next year, actually. But I do remember seeing her. My memory can be that good sometimes. I remember that Novagirl (lynda) was wearing something orange.

Well, I did get to see Bjork come out of the place where I suppose they had been keeping her all that time since I had got there. She came out and she was pretty much sitting by herself at first. But the people who were in front of me were brief and gave her a hug. I wanted to, really but I only actually give people I know very well those, and I had only seen her for a minute, for real! So I smiled, anyway, and could not decide what I wanted her to sign - as if the moment of indecision would somehow keep the line from moving, just so I could think of something to say, but I gave her the tape and said thanks you for making music and here's some I made for you. I don't even recall, really what I said. (But I did leave a note in the tape...)

an indecisive moment for the Traveller...

The rest is, as they say history, the Traveller drawing a picture of Bjork, of course, and also meeting Lynda in Chicago last year. But there has been some little strangeness that seems to plague me.

The year before 97, in 96 I had a band called Miriad. And the techno thing Iwas doing was going to be just a little side-project... so put that the Traveller was @miriad.com. But little did I know there is a business that makes software called Miriad (what are the odds? I made the name up!)... and after I gave the tape to Bjork, there soon appeared a message on the site in Icelandic that said "i would like another taste", basically. Was it Bjork, or simply another customer of this company

Well, I think I may have missed the boat, but not really. I am far out in the ocean, on my own little raft, and I have plenty of rations! And now things are starting to look up. I am smiling and none of you silly Bjork-fans shall know why! For I am impossible and you are just coincidence!
