MY 1988 THUNDERBIRD. "THUNDERHOG" AND ME.

Welcome to my first try at a web page.

I am a salesman from Terre Haute, IN, a medium size city in western Indiana. I have been a life long resident of this area. My education started at McKeen Elementary School, then McLean Junior High School and on to Garfield High School, from which I graduated in 1960. I then spent two years at Purdue University and finished my education at Indiana State University where I received a BS in Business Administration/Marketing in 1966. . .

I presently work at the local Wal-Mart Super Center in the Tire and Lube Express, where I am a customer service representative. I am responsible for the sale of tires, shop services and auto accesories. .

.

I have worked as a cost accountant, office manager, sales supervisor and salesman. I have sold many things, wholesale groceries, snack foods, cemetery plots, advertising, appliances and mortgages. . .

My interests are varied.

Antique cars are one of my passions. In the past I have owned a 1929 Ford, 1932 Plymouth, 1937 Chevrolet, 1951 Mercury, 1951 Ford, 1955 Mercury and a 1968 Olds 442.

At present I own a 1968 ford Thunderbird 2-door hardtop. It is Wimbledon white with a black interior. It has a 429 cubic inch engine with 360 horsepower. It has 87,600 miles on it, of which only 7,000 have been since 1986. It really makes for a fine car for shows and rod runs with the club I belong to, Wabash Valley Rodders. . . .

I am a student of history. At present I am a Tour Guide for the Terre Haute Convention & Visitors Bureau of Vigo County, where I give historical bus tours of the area. I also collect pre 1940 postcards of Terre Haute. My collection has over 200 cards. I am also a member to the Vigo County Historical Society. I have helped them with their museum as guide, newspaper correspondent and display donor. . .

My interest in history goes even further, I am a living history reenactor. My areas of interest are: . .

French & Indian war era 1750-1765. I am a private in Capt. McLoed's Company of the 78th Fraser Highlanders, a kilted regiment. I also am a member of their cannon crew. . .

. .

Revolutionary War era 1776-1786. I belong to the crew of the ship Hero of the Virginia State Navy. . .

. .

Colonial Era 1770-1800. I represent a longhunter or hunter of the woods of the western frontier. . .

. .

Early 19th Century. I am a resident of Fowler Village, an 1820's pioneer village at one of the Vigo County Parks, Fowler Park. The village is composed entirely of log buildings including a grist mill, store blacksmith forge, church and schoolhouse, gun makers shop, carpenters shop, smoke house, 2-story barn and 7 log homes. We relive the lifestyle of a small village in the first years of Indiana Statehood. . .

. .

Civil War era 1861-1865. I am a Captain in Hugers Virginia Artillery and also a Chaplin in the Unit's Hospital. . .

I also, for the past four years, have been the coordinator for the "Colonial Highland Gathering at Fowler Park. This is a two day event, over Mother's Day weekend in May, held at a local county park. Participants are reenactors from the 1750"s to the 1840's. We have varied activities, such as Church Service, Highland Games, Fashion Show, and Campfire activities. We have had people come from as far away as Tulsa. OK. . .

I have been a member of the Masonic Fraternity since 1976. In 1986 I was honored by being installed as Master of Humboldt Lodge #42, F&AM here in Terre Haute. I also belong to the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Valley of Terre Haute. I have been a member of the degree cast since 1977, acting in the 16th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 23rd, 27th and 32nd degrees. Masonry has been a part of my family for 5 generations and I would recommend it to any man who wants to improve himself and his knowledge. . .
