It has been reported that PCs with Windows98 or ME cannot be shut down properly if the 4060 is connected.

The response from EIM is as follows:

This is an issue that we are aware of. We have had discussions with Efficient Networks and they have informed us and the problem is caused by a DLL (Windows Shared Library) included with Microsoft Windows 98 / ME.

The problem affects not just the Efficient Modem but most USB Network Adapters. Microsoft is aware of the problem and Efficient has indicated to us that the issue will be fixed in a future Windows update.

CTxm/AUH suggested that in cases of frequent disconnection

check line attenuation and forward the cases to Data Services  or Cable Xmission accordingly.

Case I )  If the attenuation is in excess of 35dB, the cable pair has to changed.
In this case the case must be forwarded to DS. If the attenuation is
Case II) less than 35dB, the case can be forwarded to Cable Xmission.

To check the attenuation, double click the Speedstream icon in the taskbar.

Press Ctrl Alt A, click on DMT

in DMT click on the Status tab.
You will find the attenuation in dB.

AL SHAMIL ON  WINDOWS 2000

As you know, AlShamil service still doesn't support Windows2000.
The reason for that is the DSL technology used in our network.

Efficient Network Speed Stream 4060 adapter has a driver for Windows2000, but this is designed on PPP over ATM technology, while our ADSL network uses Classical IP technology.

That's why if you download this driver, it will not work.

Business One service is a different story, because its a network to network connection, the router is transparent to operating system used on both ends, so it works with Windows2000.

Also note that Cisco 677 router will not work on AlShamil line.
