Final Fantasy Walkthrough

Ok, the first thing to do is to equip yourself. Go to the weapons store and buy 2 Rapiers, (One for your Fighter and for your Red Mage, if you have them) 1 Wooden Nunchuck, (For your Black Belt) and a Wooden Hammer for your White Mage. This is best if you have a party consisting of a Fighter, Black Belt, Red Mage, and White Mage. Next, you'll want some armor. You can buy what you want but if you have a Fighter or Red Mage, get him Wooden Armor. For your Black Belt and White Mage get a cloth. And as for magic, at least get FIRE and CURE1, the rest is up to you. If you need more money you can walk around outside and beat up some Imps for some quick change. Once you reach Level 3 you can go to the Temple of Fiends to the Northwest and fight Garland. He's easy just; attack with all you've got, if necessary use FIRE on him and he'll drop quick. Ater beating him, talk to the princess and you will be transported back to the King's room where the King will make a bridge for you to the northern area, and the Princess will give you a Lute which you will need later... Once the bridge is up cross it and venture to the west until you come upon a small town. Enter it, rest at the inn. Then, when you're ready, go to the upper left part of town and you'll see a pirate. Talk to him and you'll get in a big fight. To defeat the Pirates, attack hard, and if you bought the SLEP spell back at Coneria use it and every Pirate will fall asleep, allowing you to attack. Use it again if they wake up. After defeating them talk to the Pirate Captain and he'll surrender the boat to you. Now that you have the Ship, you can cross the ocean south to Elfland. If you want some background info on what's going on you can talk to the people in the town and in the Castle. If you do this, you will find out in the Castle that the Prince elf has been sleeping for a long time and that an HERB can wake him. First, gain some levels. Ain't no way you'll live through this fighting on Level 5. While gaining levels, you'll gain Gold, which you'll need to buy the latest weapons, armor, and magic. Throughout this region here you'll fight Ogres and Creeps which are a great source for gaining experience 'n' cash. Note: Remember to buy a couple Tents before you leave, you'll need it. Um, yeah, one more thing, Buy 99 Heal potions. Yes 99, trust me you'll need em. And it wouldn't hurt to have a bunch of Pure potions, not 99 but a few. Once you're done leave town and go west. Then after the wall blocks your path go north until you see the river, then go west. Once you hit the coast, follow it south until you see a hole in the ground. Use your Tent or House here before entering. Once inside, go down until you see the room which has the stairs which you will go down in. Rather than waste your CURE spells use the 99 potions, and if you get poisoned use a PURE. There, now aren't you glad you bought all that! Next, ask yourself, "Do I want 680 G? A Short Sword? Or just keep moving towards the CROWN?" If you said, "I want 680 G" go left to the room which has the treasure chest with 680 G. If you said "A Short Sword", exit the left door and go down to the room with the treasure chest...and if you said, "Just keep moving towards the CROWN" then exit the door closest to the stairs and go down to the wall then go right, and you'll see a room which you enter then exit to the right which brings you to the stairs. This is the last room, it's pretty big and full of treasures, There is an Iron Armor in the room closest to you. Get it if you need it. You'll find a Copper Bracelet in the room south of the Iron Armor room. A House in the one to the right of the Copper Bracelet room. South of the room with the House is the CROWN. Before, you run in there, beware because there are a few WIZARDS there. The easiest way to beat them is to be on Level 9 amd to use LIT2 if you have it. You can use LIT, but it only attacks one enemy. Other than that, attack with all your warriors and use CUR2 to heal the wounded. Now that you have the CROWN you can leave. Once outside, it's recommended that you save by using a Tent. The best choice would be to go back to town and heal up, but if you're feelin lucky you can move on to the next step. Go to the Northwest Castle. Prepare to fight Astos, the Wicked Elf and Fake King. Talk to him and you will begin the fight. To beat Astos, have your Fighting units attack and have the Red Mage cast FIR2. If you have FAST, use the spell on any attacking unit and watch his attack power skyrocket!! Have your White Mage use CUR2 when necessary and watch out for Astos' RUB spell, it will completely erase you, killing you. You can have your White Mage cast MUTE (found in Pravoka) on him to try to prevent him from casting RUB. Your prize for winning is the CRYSTAL. After defeating him, head back to town and get healed up. When you're ready, head up in the Ship to the poort located behind Coneria Castle, past the bridge. Once here walk up to the cave, talk to Matoya, then she'll give you the HERB. With the HERB, go back to the Castle of Elf and use the HERB on the Prince which he will then give you the KEY. With the KEY you can open any locked door. Get the TNT in Coneria Castle. Then go west until you can't anymore, follow the coast up until you see the port. Dock there, then go down to the Dwarf Cave. Give Nerrick the TNT (he's at the bottom of the cave) and he will blow open the canal so you can move on in your journey. Don't forget to pick up the items in the locked door because you'll definitely want them. Especially the Dragon Sword, you'll need it towards the end of the game. Next, you'll be in the town of Melmond and wil be probably wonder what to do next. First, you'll want to get the latest magic spells such as CUR3 and FIR3(recommended) and LIFE (optional). The only problem is you don't have the cash, so you need a place to get $$$ quick! If you leave the town and head south, you'll find the Earth Cave. After entering, head directly west until you see a hallway (as shown below) This is known as the Hall of Giants. Here you can get big money by fighting Giants and Iguanas. This is also a great place to earn some experience too. As for weapons and armor, I think that Steel Armor is a piece of junk because it has low Evade % and low protection. Now it's time to venture deeper into the Earth Cave. Here are directions to the Vampire. From the stairs on Level 1, go right and follow the path to some stairs. Next, head as far south as possible, then right, up two sections, then right one section. I hope I haven't lost you yet. If you go south from the left side, you will find 5575 G and a Wooden Shield. If you go south from the right side, you will be on your way to the next floor. To get to the Vampire, just imagine a track. As you would run on the inner track, you do the same here. At the first opening, go up and follow a circle going left. Walk along the inside wall and you will walk right in to the Vampire's room. Actually, the Vampire is quite easy. He has only 156 HP. He can do Dazzle, which stuns you, but if you have FIR2, FIR3, or HARM you can roast him pretty easily because he's in the Undead class. And remember to all-out attack with your fighting team and CURE with your healer. After beating him, open the treasure chest behind him and you'll get the Ruby. Once you exit the Earth Cave, go back to town and get rested. Now that you have the Ruby, the Titan in Titan's Tunnel will let you pass to Sarda's Cave. The tunnel is found by going southwest from Melmond. After passing through Titan's Tunnel, head south to Sarda's Cave. Talk to him and he will give a ROD which is used to remove a stone plate behind the Vampire's room. After saving, head to the Earth Cave and walk through it again, as if going to the Vampire's room. Once you get to his room, go behind it like Sarda said, and remove the stone plate by using the ROD. After you remove the plate, head down the stairs. In the next room, just remember that the stairs to the next level are northwest. You can't miss it. If you want Buku Bucks, go up, left, up, to a room of treasures. Then you'll be on the last floor. From the stairs, go up as far as possible, then left, then down and you'll the see the room of the first Fiend, Lich. There she is...cute ain't she? Didn't think so. HP = 400. Well, first make sure you are at full strength. Then, with the fighters, attack hard. It would be a good idea to use FAST on a fighter in order to strengthen his attack. With a Black or Red Mage, use FIR3 if you can. HARM spells will also work. Lich's weak spot is FIRE spells. Hit her with hard attacks and high level FIRE and she will fall, then go forward to light the first orb. The next part brings us to Crescent Lake. After you are finished in Melmond, get in the Ship and head south then east until you see a port. When you arrive at the town of Crescent Lake, save your game, then head to the upper right corner of the town and walk around the magic shops and follow the path until you come upon the Circle of Sages as shown below. They will provide you with a lot of information about the four Fiends, and other things. Make sure to talk to all of them! You will receive the CANOE by talking to one of them. Now that you have the CANOE you can travel on the rivers. But before you do this, you may want some new goodies. Unfortunately for the Red Mage, he cannot use any Black Magic from the shop here. However, the White Mage can. These include SOFT, INV2, and FOG2. My recommendation is to get INV2. Also available here is the spell EXIT. The White Mage cannot use it, but the White Wizard can. THIS A VERY IMPORTANT SPELL!! Make sure you get it immediately after becoming the new class. Unless you've already guessed, this spell will allow you to "EXIT" any cave or dungeon when you please. This is a very powerful spell...which means if you get stuck with no Heal potions or magic with 3 dead members you can exit and heal, plus you'll keep all of the Experience and gold you earned. Make sure to leave with 99 Heals!! It's a must. As for weapons and armor, there's not much new. The one new weapon is the Silver Axe. Compared to the Silver Sword it's Damage +2, Hit % -5. It's also 4500 G. It'd be better if you stuck with your Silver Sword. In armor, there's the Buckler, Silver Gauntlet, Silver Shield , and Silver Helmet. All the silver equipment except the Silver Armor are good buys. The Silver Gauntlet is good for the Fighter and Red Mage. The Buckler only raises the Absorb by 2 so if you have the cash go ahead and get it. If you speak to the guy at the edge of town, he'll be asleep. Once you're ready to head out follow the river to the Gurgu Volcano. Once inside the Gurgu Volcano it's important to remember that each step on the lava will reduce all of your team's HP by 1. If you followed my advice and bought 99 Heals, you should be ok. Just like when you had to fight the Wizards in the Marsh Cave to get to the CROWN, you will have to fight tough enemies before being able to reach some important treasures. However, sometimes there are enemies lurking around unimportant treasures, so be careful. There is no way to tell if there is an enemy in front of the treasure until you step there. As in one case, you'd have to fight a Fire before being able to get the Giant Sword (make sure to get this sword. You can then go back to the Hall of Giants and defeat the Giants much easier). In the same room as the Giant Sword, go to the southwest corner and pick up all of the treasures. The white spot indicates enemy presence, be prepared. The staircase is to the right in the next room. The staircase is to the southeast in the next floor. From the staircase, go down to the open patches, then east to the next bunch of patches then southeast again, then to the staircase. The staircase is to the southwest. There are a bunch of treasures here but the best treasures are in the room to the northwest. You will fight a Grey Worm before receiving the Flame Shield and 7340 G. In the treasure chest below the Flame Shield there is an Ice Sword. Get this right away and equip it on your Fighter. This is the final floor. Go west to a room and inside you will see candles and a treasure chest. There are no treasures on this floor other than the Flame Armor, so don't kill yourself looking for some. Sniff sniff...what's that smell? I smell a trap. Yes indeed, two in fact. Upon entrance of the candle area you will be attacked by an Agama, then directly in front of the treasure chest is a nasty Red Dragon. Your reward is Flame Armor. Once you're ready, head to the southwest corner and you'll see a room...enter it. Here you will fight Kary the Fiend of Fire. Make sure you are all healed up before entering...she has 600 HP. See what happens when you don't bring 99 Heal potions? I barely survived. As always, use FAST on the attacking units. She's not that hard to beat. After she's done with, walk forward and light the orb. then step on the portal to be exited from the Volcano. You may want to use a Tent or Cabin once you're outside. Otherwise remember to save at Crescent Lake. The next part will be to retrieve the FLOATER from the Ice Cave. After restoring the second orb, you may be wondering what to do next. Well if you talk to the man who was asleep before, he'll tell you about the location of the FLOATER which is in the Ice Cave. So, buy up those Heal potions, grab a house or two and let's go. Hop aboard the Ship and go north until you see where the mouth of the river meets the ocean. You can dock the Ship and get onto the river with the Canoe. Then head west. The way to the Ice Cave is a little confusing at first, but once you go through it, it's not so bad. At the first fork, go north. At the second fork, go east. At the third fork, continue west. At the fourth fork, go west and you'll go right to the Ice Cave. Camp outside and save before entering. Remember to unequip any ice equipment before you delve into the deep cold of the cave and equip any fire equipment you have. Upon entering, you'll be in a long corridor. Follow it east, and you'll see the staricase. The next floor is shaped into a big square. At the staircase, you can go west or south...either way will get you to the next staircase which is at the southwest corner. In the next floor, you should see a room full of holes in the ground. Do not enter into any yet. First, go around the left side and go to the treasure chest (and don't worry, there aren't any nice little monsters waiting for you). Inside the treasure chest is the Fire Sword...very nice...equip it now!! Next, enter into the hole that's on the far left. There's two, so take the one on the bottom. You'll be in a small little room like the one below. Beware!! Every step in this room is an attack from Undead monsters. If you are not careful, or just not lucky, Geists, Images, Wraiths, and others can stun you, which leaves you helpless. I call it the slow death because you watch little guys smack you around hitting you with about 2-40 HP damage each. It sucks! Watching such a thing can make the most sane person crazy. So the best way to stop them is to use HARM spells or FIRE spells. But don't let them stun you first or else...If you survived the Undead attack, go to the west to a room but be prepared to fight two Frost Dragons. There are two treasure chests, the one in front of the entrance is the only one of importance (Ice Armor). The other is just a Silver Gauntlet, but remember if you decide to go for the Silver Gauntlet you'll have to fight the Frost Dragons twice. Use AICE if you have it to defend against the Dragons Blizzard spell. Use FIRE as well. Now, leave that room and head south. The icy colored tile is similar to the tile in the Gurgu Volcano. Every step on the ice will damage all party members by 1 HP. Upon reaching the fork shown below you can decide to go either left or right. Left = Mucho $$$$$. Right = continue on way to FLOATER. If you chose the east path, the staircase takes you to the area shown below. The treasure chest on the bottom holds 10000 G for you poor ones (or greedy). Head east when you are ready. Enter into the next room and you'll see three treasure chests and a hole. Get the teasures first, one of them is the Ice Shield. Then, you can go into the hole. There is a staircase on the upper right outside of the room. This staircase will take you outside of the Ice Cave!! DO NOT go into it until you are ready. You will back in the room with a bunch of holes, only this time you'll be able to reach the inner treasure chest. But of course, it looks too good to not be a trap. You'll fight EYE. 162 HP. Use FAST on all attacking units. Be prepared to use LIFE if he does RUB on a party member. If you hit him fast and hard you may bring him down before he can even touch you. After you beat him you get...the...FLOATER! Then just hop into any hole, and you'll be back at the Undead room. Just follow the instructions from when you were in the undead room on till you get to the staircase. Then you're ready to go into the staircase that takes you out. Follow the river the same way you came in and head back to town and save and refill the Heal potions to 99. Then hop in the Ship again, and head south to the location below and follow the pictures. With the airship, no enemy can reach you, and you travel faster than ever before and not to mention, you can travel the world! So where to now? To pass the test of courage and become true Light Warriors. Well now that you've got the Airship you can go anywhere...but where? To become TRUE Light Warriors! To do this, fly the Airship to the Cardia Islands (to the northwest, you will see a few holes in the ground, those being caves) and land in any of the five islands. Go in all of the caves and collect all of the treasures (don't worry, there are no enemies here). You'll go through one cave with long corridors and eventually you'll meet Bahamut, The King of the dragons. He tells you about proving your courage. This can be done be getting the TAIL from the Castle of Ordeal to the northeast. I noticed that there is a better way to reach the Northwest Castle then what I had said. First, from Crescent Lake, hop in the ship that should be docked at the port to the east, or down to the river's edge by the desert where you got the Airship (The point is, just get in the ship!!). Once in the ship, head north along the coast until you come across an opening. Remember if you get lost you can always press B SELECT to bring up a map of the world and find where you are. You should be heading for the Castle northeast of the islands. There you will find a river you can drop anchor in. Then just canoe down the river and head a little southwest and you'll see the Castle. Now that you've made it here, make sure to rest and save before entering. Talk to the old man at the entrance. Then head to the northwest room. Just step in the throne and you'll be transported to the next floor. Here is a little maze for everybody. Walking into the column will teleport you to the next column. But if you follow my guidelines you won't get stuck. The Zeus Gauntlet can be used as an item. It will inflict damage on all enemies and is very useful against large packs of enemies which is common in the Castle of Ordeal. The next step up will be a battle with a couple Nitemares. Not a big threat. Get the Heal Staff in the treasure chest. The White Mage can equip it and it can also be used as an item. It will cast HEAL upon use. Walk around the area where you fought the Nitemares so you don't have to fight them again...unless you want to. After heading west you'll see three treasure chests, none of them are guarded by monsters. In the uppermost chest you'll get the Gold Bracelet. Put it on the weakest member of the party. After going down, and to the right you'll see the treasure chest that holds the TAIL. If you try to walk into the throne, you'll be encountered by a pair of Zombie Dragons. Their weaknesses are FIRE and HARM. Attack hard, heal quick, and they shouldn't be a problem. Once you step in the throne, you'll be back at the first floor. Once outside, camp and save again. Make the long journey back to the Airship then rest and save again. Then head back to see Bahamut. Talk to Bahamut and show him the TAIL. Impressed with your courage, he will promote your party. Members will be able to use better magic, weapons, and armor that they could not use before. Now that you have new capabilites, I recommend you go to Crescent Lake and buy the white magic spell EXIT. It only costs 20,000 G. EXIT will transport you from the depths of any dungeon to the surface. You're gonna want that! Now that you have gotten your class changes it's time to move on in your quest to restore the 4 Light Orbs. Hop in the airship and head to the northeast and land here. This town is called Gaia. Inside you will find high-level magic. In the Black Magic shop to the right you'll find ICE3 (good buy) and BRAK. In the White Magic shop, there's CUR4 (great buy) and HRM4 (another great buy). For weapons there's the CatClaw (overpriced). I tested the CatClaw and an Ice Sword with a Red Wizard and found that the Ice Sword produced better results. The CatClaw is a good weapon for the Ninja, however. The Armor shop holds Gold Bracelets at a cheap 50,000 G. Only get them if you can afford it, they're great defense. Also there's the ProRing which protects against RUB. Grab some for everyone for the road ahead, you will meet some enemies who use RUB on a regular basis. If you look in the middle part of town, you'll find these Level 8 magic shops. Some good buys are FADE, WALL, STOP, and ZAP. This is the Fairy's Spring. Unfortunately, the Fairy isn't here right now. Word around town says that the Fairy was captured and put in a bottle. Light Warriors to the rescue? Once you're done looking around, head west to this town of Onrac. As you may see, there is nowhere near the town to land. So, head southwest to the location shown below and make your way to Onrac from here. Once you're inside Onrac have a look around and talk to everyone, you will gain much knowledge about the current situation and what you have to do. One woman has made a submarine for you, but you need OXYALE. A guy tells you about a mysterious robot that fell from the sky. Here are some magic shops in Onrac. Neither has great magic in my opinion. You'll soon come across Dr.Unne's brother. He tells you that if you find the SLAB, Dr.Unne could teach it's writings to you. You'll also find out about a great deal in the desert to the west. Let's go check it out! Land the airship near the desert and head east. Step into the middle of this oasis and you'll enter the shop. After you get the BOTTLE head back to Gaia and open the BOTTLE at the Fairy Spring. She'll pop out and sit at the front of the spring so you can talk to her. She'll then give you the OXYALE. Now it's time to head into the submarine and find the 3rd FIEND and destroy it. Get your things together, 99 Heal potions, 20-30 Pure potions and enter at full HP of course. Once inside the Sea Shrine, head up. After the columns end, there are two staircases to the left and right. The right staircase goes up and leads you to the mermaids, treasure chests, and the SLAB. The staircase to the left leads down to the 3rd FIEND, Kraken. First, head to the right staircase to gather all of the powerful items and get the SLAB. After going in the staircase, head to the upper left from the staircase. There is a room there with a treasure chest containing the Opal Armor. The Opal equipment are in my opinion the best available armor for the Knight. With execption to the Opal Bracelet, all Opal equipment should equipped by the Knight. After that head to the lower left to pick up the Light Axe. The Light Axe should be used mainly as an item, since it casts HRM2. Next, head to the middle room and pick up the Mage Staff. It can cast FIR2. The room in the lower right has 12350 G. Then step in the staircase in the lower right to move on. Then once upstairs, go up to the first room, and get all the treasures inside, one of them is the Opal Bracelet. Equip that on someone other than your Knight since he already has his Opal Armor. Walk around the back of the room where you got the Opal Bracelet and get the Opal Shield. Next, head to the upper left of the room and walk in the straight path to get to the other side of the floor. In that room, you'll get the Opal Helmet, Gauntlet and the SLAB. Now that you've gotten everything on this side, cast EXIT (you did remember to get that didn't you?). Otherwise, you'll have to fight all the way back down. If you did cast EXIT, it will take you completely outside of the town. Go inside, rest at the INN and replenish your items, then head back in. This time head left at the end of the columns, and you'll come upon this staircase. After going in, head to the upper right and go down the staircase. It's pretty self-explanatory...at least it should be. The staircase is at the lower right of the room...you know what to do. From the staircase, head down through the room. Grab what's in the treasure chests if you want, it ain't much. There's all kinds of cash in this floor, so look around. There's a ribbon in the middle room. And another Light Axe in the left room. When you're done on this floor, head to the upper left to find the staircase. Ok, this is Kraken's floor. From the staircase head left until you see the big room. The door is at the bottom. Then go through the room and out the back and you'll come upon Kraken. To beat Kraken, cast LIT3 if you can. Also use FAST on your attackers and cast INV2 to help you dodge any nasty attacks. After beating Kraken, step forward to light the orb. Then save your game back at the INN and get back whatever you lost. Buy around 10 or so Soft Potions too. When you're ready go outside in the river and canoe north. Go inside this waterfall. Once inside, head left at every fork. You should come upon a room. Be careful, the first step in that room is a fight. It could be anything, but those ribbons and ProRings will come in handy in case they try to stone you or cast RUB on you. Talk to the robot. He will give you the CUBE. It is like a key, and you will need in the upcoming mission. Get everything inside all of the treasure chests. Don't forget to grab the Defense at the end. Ironically, it's a weapon, and it's awesome. Put it on your Knight. After discovering the SLAB in the Sea Shrine, you need someone to translate its sayings. But who? Dr.Unne in Melmond can help you. Get in the airship and fly to this location. Then enter the town and go to the upper right area and talk to the man in the robe, that's Dr.Unne. Then you will understand the Lefeinish spoken in the town of Lefein. Now that you can speak Lefeinish, it's time to go see what these people have to say. Once again, get in the airship and fly to Lefein. Then head southeast to Lefein. It's a somewhat long walk and there are no INNS in Lefein, so be careful not to get tangled up with the surrounding enemies. Once inside Lefein, talk to everyone and in the bottom right section where some people are walking, speak to the one on the bottom and he will give you the CHIME. You will need that to enter the Mirage Tower. There are two secret magic shops located here which contain the most powerful Black and White Magic spells that this game has to offer. To get there, go to the upper right corner of the town, walk around the side of the building and you'll see a pathway. Walk through the pathway, keep straight and you'll see the shops. For Black Magic there's NUKE, The strongest FIRE spell. For White Magic there's LIF2, it revives one warrior to full health. Get these spells when affordable. Get your stuff together, 99 Heal potions, a handful of Pure potions and Soft potions, Full health and whatever else you might want to bring inside the Mirage Tower. Head toward the Tower. Once inside the Mirage Tower go up into the treasure room. One of the treasures here is the Aegis Shield, as shown below. The Aegis Shield is good for your Knight. Another good treasure is the Heal Helmet (shown below). Other treasures inside are the Vorpal, Cabin, and lots of money. Defense is better than the Vorpal, and the Flame Sword (what my Red Wizard has) is stronger than the Vorpal. So to conserve space I dropped it. And trust me, inventory space will be an issue in this part. The next room is another treasure room. But you have to walk around counter-clockwise to get inside. The entrance is shown below. Once inside, there are great treasures such as the Sun Sword (equip on Red Wizard), Thor's Hammer (equip on White Wizard) which has a special ability of casting LIT2 when used in battle, and Dragon Armor, which is good defense against what else but dragons. Not to mention that there's a lot of money in here too. When you're done getting all that loot, go outside and head north to the staircase shown below to advance to the the next floor. In this next room, upon setting foot inside the room, you will be attacked by a Blue Dragon. Cast FAST on your attacking members and attack as hard as possible. Other alternatives are FIR3 but that won't damage the dragon as badly as a critical hit from a Knight. After defeating the dragon, the robot tells you that you need a CUBE to work the transporter. Lucky for you, you got a CUBE back at the waterfall in the previous part. When you are ready, step into the transporter and you will be taken to the Sky Castle. Now you are inside the Sky Castle. There are many treasures to be found, and lots of cash as well. From this location, head west if you want a lot of money. Head south for the Bane Sword. Head east for a ProRing, Heal Helmet, and money. The transporters act as a staircases so head north to be transported to the next floor. This room has different branches but all lead back to the middle. So, I'll describe the contents of each branch by using clock descriptions. At 12:00 there is the transporter you came to this floor on. At 1:30 there is an Opal Gauntlet. At 3:00 there is a Ribbon and an Opal Shield. At 4:30 is a White Shirt and Black Shirt (Do not pass these up!! The White Shirt will cast INV2 and the Black Shirt will cast ICE2 upon usage in battle). At 6:00 there is the transporter which will take you to the next floor. At 7:30 there is the ADAMANT (DO NOT MISS THIS ITEM!!! This item will be necessary in getting the Xcalber, the second most powerful weapon in the game). At 9:00 there is 13880 G. At 10:30 there is a Silver Helmet and a House. Phew! I hope that clears things up. The dwarf back at the Dwarf Cave will forge Xcalber for you when you bring him the ADAMANT. In the next room, you can go west to get the Katana (great for a Ninja) and some money. Go north for a ProRing and some more money. Go east for a ProCape and some money. When you're ready to move on head west from the starting point, then down to the transporter. The next floor may remind you of the Forest of Illusions (I think that's what it's called) in The Legend of Zelda for the NES. Only a special pattern will get you out. From the starting transporter, go west twice, north twice, then enter the transporter. The 5th and final floor holds many dangerous creatures such as Tiamat, the 4th fiend, and WarMech, who in my opinion is the fiercest enemy in the entire game. The chances of meeting WarMech are very slim. In fact, only 1 in 64. I was lucky enough to find him. He only roams this bridge on the 5th floor. I must warn you though, only pursue WarMech if you feel you are strong enough to defeat him. And don't forget you still have to go through Tiamat, so make sure you have enough left over to wipe out Tiamat. He has 1000 HP. His attacks range from 128 - 256 HP. He can do NUCLEAR, which affects the entire party and terribly hurts you. Although difficult, you can defeat him. The moment I met him, he attacked my red mage and killed him in one shot. The best way to beat him is to have FAST casted on all of your attacking members. Use the White Shirt to cast INV2. Also, cast AFIR. Heal when possible. If you're lucky, and part of beating him requires luck, you'll win. It's quite a treasure when you defeat him as you can see. You can come back to fight him to gain experience quickly. If you fought and defeated WarMech then Tiamat will seem like a piece of cake. Although rare, it is possible to defeat Tiamat in one shot. Cast BANE or sometimes BRAK. I tried numerous times using BANE to kill him but it did not work. So, I recommend you use the traditional way of killing him. Cast FAST on all attacking members, use the White Shirt to cast INV2 and heal frequently. After beating him, step forward to light the 4th and final orb. After defeating Tiamat and restoring your health, you should head to the Dwarf Cave to have that Adamant forged into the mighty Xcalber. Once you have acquired the Xcalber, it's time to go after the greatest foe of them all...Chaos. However, you may not be strong enough to fight him. I recommend you go after Chaos only if you are at least level 25. You can go in at an earlier level, but it will make your journey more difficult. If you want to gain levels quick there are many different places you can go. One place is the Great Desert, where the Mirage Tower is located. There you can fight Tyros and Anklyos for decent experience. Another good place to go is where you're next part is...The Temple of Fiends Revisted. Believe it or not, your quest will end in the same building it started. The bats inside will now speak to you and they tell you that they are the 5 lost SKY WARRIORS. As you walk to the black orb, the 4 orbs you have recovered will cover the darkened orb and transport you 2000 years back in time. Don't worry though, one casting of the EXIT spell will bring you back to present day. The enemies of the Temple of Fiends Revisited are very strong and can easily weaken any party to low HP, causing you to go back to town to heal up. Many dragons roam the floors of this temple. One of those, the Gas Dragons, are very strong. They are the fiercest of the dragon family, especially when they attack in groups. It's important that all your warriors be equipped with a ribbon. It is great defense against specialty attacks such as the POISON GAS attack the Gas Dragons use and will help ward off other ailments. You may also want to use the Dragon Sword against these dragons, but you may find the Xcalber to be more effective. The reward for defeating them is rather generous as you can see so fighting and exiting back to town to restore health is a good way to gain levels. You can also gain levels quickly fighting WarMech. Once you are ready to venture into the depths of the Temple of Fiends Revisited, make sure you bring along 99 Heal potions as always. A handful of Pure and Soft Potions will also help. Step into the gate when you're set and you'll be transported into the Temple. Once inside, make your way to the lower right corner where the staircase is located. On the next floor just walk over to the right to the next staircase. In the next floor, just make your way to the center room but beware because there is a Phantom waiting for you at the first step inside. He is easy and shouldn't cause a problem. Hit hard with the Fighter, Master, and Red Wizard while the White Wizard uses the White Shirt to cast INV2. Walk up to the plate covering the staircase and use the LUTE. It will remove the plate allowing you to continue. There is only money inside those treasure chests. From the staircase head to the upper left to find the way to the next floor. Just head left from the staircase and you will come upon the next staircase leading you down. On this floor, walk all the way up, go right, then all the way down, but don't walk into the staircase yet. This floor is called the Earth floor. You will encounter many enemies from the Earth Cave here such as the strong Earths. You can run from the Mud Gols to save HP. The next step towards the staircase is a battle with Lich. Lich still has 400 HP but she can cast NUKE which is devastating. Have the White Wizard use the White Shirt to cast INV2 and attack with all your fighting members. Save the FAST spells for the tougher enemies that lie ahead. After defeating Lich and going down the staircase you come upon the Fire floor. You will encounter such enemies as Agamas, Fire, Red Giants, and others. The Black Shirt will be very useful here since it casts ICE2. From the first staircase, walk left then up into the room then walk right, then down to this location. If you go down more, you will come upon a Katana, ProCape, and a ProRing. If you go up one more step then you will encounter KARY. Once again, don't waste your FAST here. Use the White Shirt and heal as necessary. The next floor is the Water floor and just like the others, you will encounter enemies from the Sea Shrine. Thor's Hammer is very useful here since it casts LIT2. Work your way to the bottom right. Kraken is waiting for you inside the passageway to the staircase, not in front of the staircase like the other FIENDS. Same as always, don't use FAST unless you have to to survive and use the White Shirt. The next floor is known as the Wind floor and is home to many monsters from the Sky Castle. Ok, you cannot forget to get this item. From the starting point on this floor, go down as far as possible, then head to the right until you see it. It is the strongest weapon in the entire game. It is the Masamune. Anyone can equip it and it does great! Give it to the White Wizard and suddenly it's like having a new party member. Tiamat is waiting in front of the staircase. Use the White Shirt and you can cast FAST if the battle gets pretty ugly, just leave 4 castings of FAST available for the final enemy. After defeating Tiamat, head to the right and down the staircase. Go around the columns to the bottom where the entrance into that room is. It turns out that Garland is the one who caused all the problems. You will fight him in Chaos form after his 3rd speech. Chaos is an unpredictable foe. One day, he will slaughter you, another day, you'll rip him to shreds. Luck plays an important part in what random spells Chaos will use on you. Cast FAST on everyone and use the White Shirt. Cast WALL if possible on the White Wizard while he attacks and heals when necessary. The most effective thing on Chaos is strong attacking so it's important that everyone be involved in slaying this mighty dragon. When the dust settles and you are victorious, The Temple and Chaos will begin to decay. After defeating Chaos, you will be enlightened as to the cause of the problems and past history regarding earlier warriors. Congratulations! You have beaten Final Fantasy 1.
