Still going on Seven Pillars. Started Moby Dick. Good so far. Started Birdsong (about First World War). Started A Moveable Feast. Lots of starting, not enough reading (or writing). Find it hard with a new Economist every Monday usurping my spare reading time.
Seven Pillars of Wisdom: just started.
True at First Light: Hemingway. Standard Hemingway self righteous, big game manly stuff. Great!
Anna Karenina: a pretty good read. Some interesting philosophy involved.
Lolita: can understand the outrage at the time. Bit of a struggle to finish it
The Count of Monte Cristo: A fantastic adventure tale which I wished I read when I was young. Well younger.
The God of Small Things: not yet finished. Might be more interesting having now been to India.
An Instance of the Fingerpost: a detailed and lengthy medieval murder mystery. gets a bit tedious but worth finishing.
Sophie's World : an excellent run down of the history of philosophy and a good read.
The Grapes of Wrath : a story about dispossed farmers and the problems they face. Very sad.
The Beach : not a bad read to get a feel for Thailand. Bit contrived. Pretty good effort for a young guy though.
Bag of Bones : Stephen King slop.
War & Peace : Well worth the read. About Russia during the Napoleonic wars. Great characters.
