..... It was a sunny day in Balmoral, Scotland. The birds were singing, the
creek gurgling, and the perfect day to go hunting.
..... William, Harry, and Prince Charles were getting ready for their first
hunting trip since they arrived in Balmoral.
..... "William, hurry up!" Harry shouted from down the hallway. He entered
William's room. "If you would stop grooming yourself and get going, mabye
we could get there early this time."
..... "Be quiet," William said sarcastically. "I didn't even invite you in.
This is my room. I would appreciate it if you left."
..... "Come on, boys." Charles said over the intercom. "Let's go. We're going
to be late."
..... "See," Harry said.
..... William gave him a look and rubbed Harry's head as he passed him. They
joined their father downstairs. "You ready?" The boys nodded their
heads and continued out the door.
..... By noon the three had caught some foul, but not much else. All of a
sudden, William saw a beautiful wild turkey in the brush. Charles and
Harry caught on quickly.
..... "Oooh, I wanna shoot it!" Harry said excitedly.
..... "No way. This one is mine" William said.
..... William advenced on the bird. He set his target,and was about to shoot
it when, BOOM! William looked at the bird which was now in the hands of a
girl about his age and dead.
..... "I was going to shoot that!" William said annoyed.
..... "You snooze,you loose." The girl replied then said in
amazement, "Hey, aren't you Prince William?"
..... "The one and only." William said calming down a little. "Now about that
bird..."
..... "Don't worry," She said,interrupting him. "You can come over to my house
with your family,and we can eat it together. I'm Annabelle, but you can
call me Anna. I live right across from you. I couldn't bring any cookies
though, you know all the security."
..... William smiled forgetting about the turkey. "That's a nice house. I'm
sure we would love to come over. Would your parents agree to have us?"
..... "Sure!" Anna said. "They would never turn down an offer to meet
royalty. How about 7:00?"
..... "Why don't you come and meet my dad and brother?" William took her
hand and lead her over. "Dad, Harry, meet Anna. She invited us over for
dinner. Is that okay? She lives right across from us."
..... "I don't see why not?" commented Charles,noticing the turkey in Anna's
hands. "William, isn't that your...," William quickly signaled him to
stop.
....."I'm sure my parents will be thrilled to have you over. Will and I
agreed on 7:00. Is that okay?"
.....Charles replied, "It sure is."
..... "Then it's settled. I'll see you later. I've gotta be going. Nice
metting you all," Annabelle walked away into the trees.
....."She's a nice girl, William," Charles said patting him on the back.
William nodded,and they continued on home.
LATER THAT NIGHT
..... The first one to go was Charles. He wore a kilt,as usual,with a nice
sweater to top it off. William and Harry both wore suits and dress
shoes. They all assembled at the door at 6:50.
....."Are you ready to go?" Harry asked William.
....."I sure am."
..... The guards opened the door,and the sea of reporters surged toward them.
The press got a hold of this story,and they were not going to let it go.
They were asking questions like "William,is she your new girlfriend?"
And "Was it love at first sight?" Harry comforted William and said
"Don't listen to them." William nodded,and silently clenched his teeth
as he continued down the gauntlet of reporters.
..... Finally,they reached the mansion. The doors opened,and Anna's family
was standing before them. The entrance was magnificent,with chandeliers
and frescoes upon the wall. Anna was wearng a stunning strapless white
silk dress,with a glorious sash. William had never realized how bautiful
she was. The white brang out her soft brown eyes. Her brown-copper
streaked hair was pulled back out of her face,and now he could see her
graceful neck. Her earrings were shining,along with her smile. Get back
to earth, he thought to himself. Stop staring.
..... "Welcome to our home!" Anna said warmly. "Dinner is ready.We can eat
now if you like. I hope you don't mind, Harry. I brought along a friend.
Her name is Samantha. She is thirteen,like you."
..... "Hi, Harry. You can call me Sara, if you want. I have always wanted to
meet you in person."
..... "As have I," Harry took her hand as she giggled.
..... They all filed into the dining room,and sat down to a nice dinner. Of
couse the turkey was the main course. Mashed potatoes,a assortment of
vegtables,pasta,and three deserrt choices also acompanied the turkey.
Charles socialized with Anna's parents,Harry with Samantha,and Anna with
William. After dinner, Charles invited Anna's parents over to the
manor,where they could talk some more. Harry,Samantha,William,and Anna
were left at the manor.
..... "Anna, the meal was great. Mabye we can do it again sometime ?" William
said.
....."I would very much like that." Anna said blushing.
..... Not too far away, Harry and Samantha were saying goodbye. Samantha
leaned over to Harry and kissed him on the cheek. Harry froze and was
very surprized. William was about to laugh,but then Anna gave him a
kiss. William pulled away alarmed, "What do you think you're doing?" he
said out loud.
..... "What?" Anna said surprised.
..... "You had no right to do that!" William said,angered.
....."I just thought that...," Anna responded.
..... "Well,you thought wrong!" He said,interrupting her.
..... "Fine! If that's the way you feel!" Anna pushed William and Harry
outside and slammed the double doors in their faces.
..... William walked away angrilly,not caring about the press. Harry caught
up with him and said
..... "You really blew it. You should go back tomorrow,and apologise."
..... "You always have a comment for everything,don't you ?" William snapped
back. "I don't need your help. I can solve my own problems"
..... Harry and William returned to the manor and went to their rooms. As
William entered his room, he thought maybe I should apologise. I'll go
tomorrow, after breakfast. He quickly went to bed,anticipating the next
day.
THE NEXT DAY
..... William arrived at Anna's house with some flowers. A butler answered
the door, and called for Anna. In a few a minutes she was there.
....."Oh it's you. What do you want?"
..... "I want to apologize for what I did. I overreacted when you kissed me.
I was so surprised. It was unexpected."
..... "Oh, that's so sweet," Anna said in a suyrpy voice,but quickly changed
to a harsh tone, "But it's going to take more than that for me to forgive
you." S he was going to throw him out again, but William would not go.
..... "Just let me explain! Listen to me!" William said in deperation.
..... "Look, I don't have time. I have to go...," she tried to think of an
excuse, "set the table! Yes, set the table."
..... "Then I'll do it with you!" William said. He started to follow her to
the silverware closet. Anna refused to listen,putting her hands over her
ears "I'm not listening,I'm not listening" All of a sudden while they
were in the closet,the door closed.
....."What was that?" William said.
..... "Oh no,we're locked in! And the worst part is I'm with you," Anna said.
..... "I'll pretend I didn't hear that," William said stubbornly.
..... "Don't even say anything. It's going to be a little while before they
figure out we're in here. I don't want to listen to your pleas."
..... "You said that you were going to set the table. When they figure out
you're not there, they will look for you, right?" William said hopefully.
....."I was lying. I was trying to get you to leave," Anna said quietly.
"Don't talk until I say so."
.....The two went through an awkward moment of silence.
..... "Okay, I guess you can talk." Anna admitted.
....."You said you needed something more than a apology for you to forgive
me. How about this?"
..... He walked up to her and turned her face to his. Then he moved toward
her and gave her a kiss on the lips. Then he backed away. Anna thought
to herself,he is suck a good kisser. Then she kissed him back,even
longer. Right after that moment,someone opened the door. "Miss," the maid
was about tosay, but then she saw them together. "Oh, I'm sorry. Did I
interrupt something?"
..... "No, not at all. We were waiting for someone to open that door. She
smiled a William. "Lets go out into the garden. You haven't seen it
yet, right?"
..... No,I don't believe I have." He took her hand,then stopped walking. "You
know, Anna, we might not have that much time together."
..... "I know,but I'm willing to take that risk. I don't wanna wait for our
lives to be over before I get to meet you again. The way I see it,I'll
treasure the weeks we have together. That will be enough for me." She
smiled, "Besides,you only get one chance to meet the prince.
