.....It was Serena Collins's first time in London. She had just arrived yesterday
and found out that all that she heard about the country was true...from the cute little
shops, tea time, and the to-die-for British accents. It was her greatest wish
to meet Prince William. Could it come true?
.....Just as she was thinking the
thought, she saw him! She forced her legs to move although they were practically frozen in
place. She ran pursuing the six-foot-two blonde guy in the crowd. More than
once she had crashed into people who were in her way. Finally she reached him
and touched his shoulder (oh, to touch him!).
....."Excuse me," she said breathlessly, "can I have your autograph?"
....."Autograph?" he asked, confused by the word.
.....Serena's heart fell. Had she been mistaken? "You're not Prince William?" she
asked disapointed.
.....The words of his answer came out slowly. "I'm not sure."
.....Inside, Serena started to freak out. The word psycho slowly crept to her mind. She slowly backed away.
But the boy grabbed her wrist.
....."Don't go. Maybe you can help me. You see, I don't
know who I am." He looked at her imploringly with his blue eyes.
.....Serena thought this over. "Do you have any ID on you?"
.....He took out his wallet and showed it's contents to her.
She almost fainted. There was an Eton identification card with the name William Windsor. Several
ATM cards with the name William Windsor. There was even a small mini-album with
photos of the royal family.
....."They mean nothing to me," he told her.
....."I need something to drink," she told him. Prince Willliam with amnesia? "Have
you eaten?"
.....He looked frustrated with himself as he said, "I don't remember."
.....Serena led him to a little cafe... She had to think. Serena took a bite of the donut the waiter had just brought her and then took a sip of coffee. "Do
you remember anything?"
....."I remember...I remember sneaking away from somewhere. It seemed like a prison. I remember being happy for being successful in escaping. Then I remember that I was
in a car. I crashed into something and was hurt, but I didn't want to wait for
help. I was afarid someone would be angry with me. So, I wandered down several
blocks and then you were there."
.....Her head was reeling from the story. "I have to take you back to you back...to
the police. Your father. The palace. Somewhere."
....."No," he said a little too forcefully. "Can't I just be here with you? Alone? I don't remember much, but I...know I haven't had my rightful share of being
alone with someone."
....."William," Serena said. "Don't you know who you are! You're a prince. I can't...
I mean...I'm not even sure it would be legal if..."
....."I suppose I should go back home. My mum must be worried about me." He gave a
soft laugh. "Why do I feel sad when I say that word? Mum."
.....Serena hated to tell him all over again. "Your mother died...passed away."
....."Oh, that would explain it," he said softly.
.....Over head the television was announcing, "... the car in the collision has been
identified as that off Prince William's; however, his body has not been found. Authorities conclude that he has been taken to the nearest hospital most likely. But if anyone
knows the whereabouts of the Prince, the royal family pleads that you step
forward. They are anxious to know his condition..."
.....Murmurs went around the cafe. "How sad." "where is he?" "I wonder..."
....."Is that me?" he asked.
.....Serena's stomach was churning as she nodded. She knew the right thing to do
was to bring him back to his father and brother, but there was a part of her
that told her not to. She would be in London for a week. Her parents would
then be expecting her back home. Could she help William regain his memory by
then? Maybe establish friendship with him? What should she do?
