..... ‘Could this night get any worse?’ Will thought to himself as he sat on the window seat in his room. ‘Why did papa have to send out that invitation?!’
..... The back doorbell rang and William heard the sound of people laughing and talking fill the main foyer of St. James’ Palace. He heard Harry calling him from the bottom of the stairs but he chose to ignore it.
.....
‘I don’t want to see her,’ he thought to himself. He clenched his fist in anger at the thought of her and her boyfriend together.
.....
‘Why didn’t she just tell me, instead of waiting this long and have me fall in love with her?’
.....
He jumped when he heard the door open.
.....
"What?!" he said angrily as he spun around.
.....
"Serena’s here," Harry said as he gently closed the door behind him.
.....
"I don’t care, I don’t want to see her," Will replied.
.....
Harry walked over to him and looked him dead in the eyes. "You are coming down whether you like it or not, you have to get over yourself and deal with it! It’s not just going to disappear! Now stop acting like a baby and come down for dinner" he said through clenched teeth.
.....
"Yea well---," He was interrupted by the door opening.
.....
"Hello?" Serena said as she stuck her head in through the door. "Oh good, I found you! Harry do you think Will and I could talk for a minute alone please?!"
.....
Harry looked at Will who had gone back to staring out the window.
.....
"Yea sure, I’ll go see when dinner will be ready," He smiled at Serena as he brushed past her.
.....
"Will…Will…. Aren’t you even going to look at me?"
.....
He continued staring out the window, for fear that if he looked at her he would cry.
.....
She saw his fist tighten as she put her hand on his shoulder.
.....
"Fine, this may make it easier if your not going to talk," she took a deep breath and continued. "I broke it off with Jake… after you hung up on me I thought about the two of you and how I felt for each of you. The truth was that I was going to break up with Jake before I came here but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. And after he told me he was coming over here to see me I had to tell him. I didn’t want him to spend all that money coming over here, just so that I could tell him that I loved you…."

She took her hand off his shoulder and sat down beside him. They both sat there for a long time in silence until he gently slipped his hand under hers and grasped it tightly. She looked over at him and smiled, he smiled back.
.....
"I’m so sorry," she whispered.
.....
"It’s ok, I shouldn’t have blown up like that, I was a jerk. I loved you so much that it broke my heart when you said you had a boyfriend. I thought that you didn’t want me" he looked down at their two joined hands and traced the outline of their fingers with his eyes.
.....
"I thought that after that phone conversation you would never want to see me again!"
.....
"Well, to tell you the truth, I didn’t…I was too scared."
.....
Serena managed a small smile when he looked at her.
.....
"Do you think we could possibly start all over again?" Will asked her.
.....
"I hope so. This dinner was a blessing in disguise, I was going to call and cancel, now I’m glad that SOMEBODY talked me out of it..."
.....
"Harry?"
.....
"Yes, your little brother is quite good at persuasion!"
.....
Together they walked downstairs in to the main dining room.
.....
"Ahhhh you’re just in time for dinner," Charles said as the servants came in with huge trays filled with food.
.....
Will sat beside Harry and Serena sat across from William, beside Charles.
.....
"Thanks," Will whispered to Harry.
.....
"Don't mention it," Harry replied.
.....
The two boys smiled at eachother as they raised their glasses in a toast.
.....
2 hours later, Serena and Will were outside by the Mercedes, the chauffeur was ready to drive her home and she and Will had walked out to the car after she thanked Charles’ and Harry for a lovely evening.
.....
"I had a great time tonight," Will said as he held Serena’s hand.
.....
"So, did I," she stopped walking and turned to him. She placed her arms around his neck and gave him a passionate good night kiss. When they pulled away, Serena noticed Charles staring oddly at her from the front window, she shrugged it off and got into the car.
.....
When they were half way to the house, the car phone rang.
.....
"Hello?" said the chauffeur. "Yes, just a minute, ma’am it’s for you, It’s His royal highness."
.....
Thinking it was William, Serena reached for the phone, "Hey Willie! Do you miss me already?!"
.....
The chauffeur smirked to himself as the man on the other end of the phone line explained that he was Prince Charles.
.....
"Oh, I’m sorry."
..... "That’s all right, but there is something of extreme importance that we must talk about."
