Fairytale or Nightmare?

Written by Geane D.

.....I don't think it would be a complete nightmare, but I don't think it would be a complete fairytale either. I just want to get something straight here. I hear all these girls saying how they would love to marry Prince William, to be his future wife. Well, have you ever stopped and think of what your life would be like after you married him. I know, he is a prince and he's hot, rich, has fame, fortune and status, and if you married him, you'll have that too and you'll be the luckiest girl in the world. Would you really?
..... Well sure you'll be married to Prince William, but look at what would happen to your life after you married him. You'll be persuaded and harrassed by the media every day, rumors, gossip and lies will be written about you in the newspapers around the world, you'll have little freedom and privacy, you'll have bodyguards monitoring your every single move everyday, and last but not least, you'll be future Queen of England. Do you really want that and most of all, will you be ready for that? Not even William wants this and he's had this destiny all his life.
Of Course, there are some positive things about marrying Wills. You'll have a fairytale wedding, you'll have the most beautiful and expensive clothes, you'll own the most priceless jewels, you'll live in a palaces, you'll meet other famous people, and you'll visit and tour other countries around the world. But most of all those things are 'money can buy'. Money can't buy you happiness, freedom, and/or privacy, right. So it's not such a glamourous life is it. Just because he's a handsome Prince Charming doesn't mean anything. Remember what happened to Lady Diana after she married Prince Charles and the kind of life she led afterwards.
..... Hey, don't get me wrong, I adore Prince William. I think he's cute, sexy, intelligent, kind, and courageous. But I still wouldn't want to marry him. Even if I moved into an apartment by St. James Palace in London or Eton College, I wouldn't want to marry him. Besides, I'm Catholic, I come from no aristocratic background, and to marry Prince William, just like his father before, you can't have NO past with guys/men. Also, if Prince William marries an American or Canadian girl, (I'm Canadian) she will will one day be Queen of England and I can't see England having an American or Canadian for it' s Queen.
..... As soon as the public, especially the press, discovers your Prince William's girlfriend, your life is changed forever. One day your known by your family and friends as _________, as you, basically a nobody to the world. The next day, the whole world knows you as __________, Prince William's girlfriend. You'll have the press at your door, following your every move, people asking you questions and stop and stare at you on the streets, in a store, restaurant, etc. Do you really want that? I sure don't. Also, if you're attractive and pretty, like Lady Di was, you'll never be left alone. And look what happened to her. Right until her death, she was never left alone.
..... So, I just wanted to get that message across, if it hasn't crossed your mind yet. I know that some of you just fantasize about it, hey I fantasize about it sometimes to because he is a prince and he is cute and rich, but I don't seriously think about marrying him. After all, I still want a normal, ordinary life. But for those of you, who serious want to marry him and wish you'd be his future wife, stop and think about what would happen to your life after. Just look at the kind of life William's leads now, and will always led. Do you really want the same? You can still like him, admire, and fantasize him, but don't think marrying him will be all glamourous. Plus, to marry Prince William you have to be Protestant, rich (your family must be aristocratic) and a virgin with no past. So if your not a aristocratic, Protestant virgin with no past, you have no chances of marrying Wills and being England's future Queen. And last but definitely not least, you'll have the royal family as your in-laws!!
