The remote, dark cemetery is a popular place for young men to take their dates when they want to be alone. A number of years ago, a young couple were enjoying themselves at this location when they suddenly realized the time was 11:45, just 15 minutes until the girl’s curfew! In an attempt to get her home on time, their car took one particularly sharp corner too fast, and the car skidded off the road and into the woods. There wasn’t much left of the car, or the couple, for that matter, as they were both killed instantly. The girl’s head was tore from her body in the violent impact.
The mother of this girl was distraught. She swore on her deathbed, not too many years after this, that she hoped no other mother would ever have to go through the tragic loss of a child like she had.
Not long after her death, young couples parked at the Stepp Cemetery began seeing a lady, all dressed in black, sitting on the stone bench. Around her neck was hanging the battered head of a teenage girl, a reminder for them to leave for home in time so they did not have to rush.
