The Arrival, Independence Day, What's Next?

I'm sure all of you have heard of both movies The Arrival and Independence Day. Well, what's next? Alien invasion movies are always an adventure to watch. And alien invasion games are no different. That's what I want to talk about in this editorial. Alien invasion video games.

It's true that there aren't very many games of this type, although I can name a few (Contra series, Metroid series, EarthBound, etc.) Well, maybe Metroid isn't exactly an alien invasion game, but it's close. Contra games have always been great for the NES, Game Boy, and Super NES. EarthBound is about a year old so far and is still quite a good game, in my opinion. Remember, EarthBound 2 is coming out for the Nintendo 64 next year.

What I mostly want to talk about is upcoming alien invasion games. The first, and probably biggest, is Body Harvest for the Nintendo 64. Made by DMA Design (they also made Uniracers), Body Harvest is a game where one man must travel back in time to stop insect-like aliens from invading earth. For more information, check out the "Game Previews" section. The second game is Ultra Combat (the name may change) for the Nintendo 64. This game is developed by Software Creations and will be sold by GT Interactive. Not that much is really known about this game, given that it's in early development. But its theme (alien invasion) does seem promising. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, for the Nintendo 64, is also supposed to have aliens in it (check out the picture of the alien in the "Game Pictures" section). And then, there's EarthBound 2, as I've said before, coming out next year for the Nintendo 64. It will be using the 64DD.

I know this is a short one, but I couldn't think of anything else to talk about. I'm sure that by next week I will have something bigger. (Side Note: This fall another alien invasion movie is coming out. It's called Mars Attacks!, and it is a Tim Burton movie.)
