Nintendo's Fall And Winter Line-Up

Although it has already been fall for nearly a month, some of it is still left. The winter season, by the way, includes December, January, and February. Fall includes September, October, and November. I just wanted to clear that up, since the seasons are also like that in the future release software sections.

Weirdly enough, Nintendo didn't release ANY games in September. Usually there's at least one game released, but this year nothing.

Earlier in October, Nintendo released Mario Golf for Game Boy Color. This is the Game Boy Color version of the Nintendo 64 game. It is also developed by Camelot. Nintendo will soon be releasing Pokémon/Yellow for Super Game Boy. You can trade Pokémon between the Red and Blue versions, so that's nice. Unfortunately, the game wasn't designed for Game Boy Color. Rare has released Jet Force Gemini just this week. This is Rare's first N64 title since Banjo-Kazooie, which was released in June 1998.

In November, Nintendo will be releasing two Nintendo 64 games. They are Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside 2 and the Rare-developed Donkey Kong 64. DK64 will be the first N64 game that can only be played with the 4MB Expansion Pak. If you don't own the 4MB Pak, tough luck. (Better get one.) Nintendo will also be releasing the Rare-developed Mickey's Racing Adventure for Game Boy Color, at the end of the month. It's reminiscent of another Rare game: RC Pro-Am. Only, it has Disney characters in it.

Sometime in the fall, Nintendo will be releasing Ogre Battle 3 (N64), Ridge Racer 64 (N64), Bionic Commando (GB Color), and Crystalis (GB Color). The last game mentioned is the Game Boy Color version of the NES sci-fi RPG.

Nintendo has lots in store, for players, in December. There's Excitebike 64 (N64), Game & Watch Gallery 3 (GB Color), Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside: 3-on-3 Challenge (GB Color), and Star Wars Episode I: Racer (GB Color).

In January, Nintendo will be releasing StarCraft 64 for the Nintendo 64. This the N64 version of the PC game.

Nothing in February, but here are some games scheduled to be released sometime in the winter: Eternal Darkness (N64), the Rare-developed Mickey Racing (N64), and Riqa (N64).

For a bonus, here's a list of Nintendo-published games to be released next year (not including January and February):

  • Kirby 64 (N64)
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Mysterious Acorn (GB Color)
  • Mario Artist & Camera (N64)
  • Mickey Mouse Adventure (N64)
  • Perfect Dark (N64/Rare-Published)
  • Pokémon/Gold (GB Color)
  • Pokémon/Silver (GB Color)
  • Pokémon Stadium (N64)
  • Super Mario Adventure (N64)

Quite a bunch, huh? Six N64 games and three GB Color games, not to mention that (according to Nintendo's release list) both the Nintendo Dolphin and Game Boy Advance systems are to be released next fall.

Look for the next editorial next month.
