Everyone Can Play The N64 ... Almost

As you may know, Nintendo has a reputation of making "kiddie" games. But what's wrong with that? Take Nintendo 64 games for instance. There have been and will be big sellers that are rated E (Everyone -- Ages 6 and Up). Just to name a few: Banjo-Kazooie (Nintendo / Rare), Diddy Kong Racing (Rare), F-Zero X (Nintendo), The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo), Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo), Star Fox 64 (Nintendo), Super Mario 64 (Nintendo), Tetrisphere (Nintendo / H20 Entertainment), Wave Race 64 (Nintendo), Wetrix (Ocean / Zed Two), Yoshi's Story (Nintendo), and 1080° Snowboarding (Nintendo). You can not say that those games are anything less than the best. (And you better not say that Zelda 64 is less than the best, either.) Down below is a list of E rated games, T (Teen -- Ages 13 and Up) rated games, and M (Mature -- Ages 17 and Up) rated games. As you can see, most games are rated E.

Now, don't get me wrong. I like T and M rated games, too. (I don't like the blood and gore, but I do like the action.) Some of my favorites are GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo / Rare) and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (Nintendo / LucasArts). I'm also looking forward to playing Turok 2.

Nintendo will always, as far as I can see, develop E rated games for a long time to come. Some of these games could be: Super Mario 64 II (Nintendo -- 64DD), EarthBound 64 (Nintendo / Hal), Super Mario RPG 2 (Nintendo / Hal), and Banjo-Tooie (Nintendo / Rare).

So, games that have violence and such in them is and will remain at a minimum. However, with companies like Midway and Acclaim still going, we're going to still see some T and M rated games to come.
