The leader of the 2.SS Panzer Corps

SS-Obergruppenführer Wilhelm Bittrich

Welcome to the page of the 9.SS Panzer Division "Hohenstaufen" and the 10.SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg"

This page is about their forces in Operation Market Garden!

SEPTEMBER 17th 1944...

The skies of Holland was filled with parachutes!!!!!

Our forces were under airborne attack!!!!!

The Hohenstaufen fought at Arnhem

while

the Frundsberg tried to protect Nijmegan!

IT WAS A FIGHT THEY WOULD NEVER FORGET! READ MY OTHER PAGE... OPERATION MARKET GARDEN: A BRIDGE TOO FAR...

9.SS Panzer Division

Hohenstaufen

the leader

SS-Obersturmbannführer Walther Harzel

The brave division defended Arnhem and Oosterbeek. Their small battle groups were very successful. Kampfgruppe Spindler prevented the rest of the 1st British Airborne Division from reaching Frost on the Arnhem Bridge. Kampfgruppe Knaust forced Frost's 2nd Parachute Regiment to surrender.

10.SS Panzer Division

Frundsberg

their leader

SS-Gruppenführer Heinz Harmel

If you're looking for a good panzer division, Frundsberg is a good choice eventhough they lost the Nijmegan road bridge to the allies. For some reason, when Harmel ordered it to be blown, it didn't blow and the allies crossed the bridge. Despite the failure in Nijmegan, they successfully blocked the road between Arnhem and Nijmegan. The famous Island.
