This is a 3 horsepower Montgomery Ward Sattley. It was built by Nelson Brothers Company in Saginaw, Michigan. This engine was built around 1925. It has a hit & miss governor.

I bought this engine over the internet on an ad I placed on Har ry's Old Engine in July of 1999 for my daughter Kim. She likes to work out in the shop with me when I get a new engine, so we decided this would be hers.

Sattley engines were originally black or red in color but Kim chose blue. Sattley engines aren't very common in the Evansville area due to the Hercules Company being here in town.

These are some pictures of the engine prior to the new paint job. The engine was running when we got it, although it has numerous welds (governor weights, mag bracket, exhaust rocker arm, governor bracket, main bearing cap, & the connecting rod).
