The Castrol National Rally Championship for cars and motorcycles 1999 is unique in many ways.
Firstly, this is the first time in the history of the FMSCI that the events are to be run almost in line with the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship. The FIA General Prescriptions, the Standard Supplementary Regulations of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship are to be followed almost in totality. May be the first step towards making the dream of India hosting a round of Asia Pacific Rally Championship in the year 2000, a reality.
Secondly, the 4 wheeler technical regulations are redrafted completely to be in line with that of the FIA's Appendix "J", a step towards giving our competitors a chance to prepare their cars in line with that of the FIA, and ofcourse, make them feel comfortable, when India hosts a round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
Thirdly, the Sporting Code of the NCR is also being worked upon to be in line with that of the code of the FIA.
Fourthly, in the case of two wheelers, amidst, protest and pats from two wheeler competitors, this year all the rounds of this championship will be run Solo.
