Cyfyngder mwya'n Prynwr rhad

(Angeu Crist)
Cyfyngder mwya'n
    Prynwr rhad
Oedd colli gweled gwedd y Tad,
  Pan lefodd ar ben Calfari,
  "Eloi, lama, sabachthani!"

O! feiau mawr, beth all'sech fwy
Na rhoddi i Frenin nefoedd glwy'?
Lladdasoch ef; fe drodd y rhod,
  Mae dydd eich dial
      chwithau'n dod.

Dirgelwch o anfeidrol ryw
I'm Iesu farw ac yntau'n Dduw!
  Mae'n bleser gan angylion nef
  Fyfyrio ar ei angeu ef.

Dyma lle bydd fy nhrigfan i,
O fewn i glwyfau 'Mhrynwr cu;
  Y man nas tyr
      euogrwydd trwy,
  Y man nas meiddia
      Satan mwy.

Tonau [MH 8888]:
Leipsic (Georg Neumark 1621-81)
Melindwr (<1869)

gwelir:
  Cod d'olwg f'enaid fynu fry
Does arnaf eisiau yn y byd
Fy enaid cwyd dy olwg fry
  Gofyniad nefoedd faith ei hun
Wrth edrych Iesu ar dy groes

(The Death of Christ)
The greatest distress of our
    gracious Redeemer
Was losing sight of the Father's face,
When he cried on the summit of Calvary,
  "Eloi, lama, sabachthani!"

O great faults, what could ye more
Than give to the King of heaven a wound?
Ye slew him; the sky turned,
  The day of your own
      retribution is coming.

A mystery of an immeasurable kind
To me that Jesus should die and he God!
It is a pleasure for the angels of heaven
  To meditate upon his death.

Here is where my dwelling shall be,
Within the wounds of my dear Redeemer;
  The spot that guilt shall
      not break through,
  The spot that Satan shall
      never more claim.
