Royal Windsor Fine Bone China

I created this page because I couldn't find any information on the web about Royal Windsor. Hopefully this will help someone else out. It took me several months to finally find this information.

Royal Windsor was a trading name and recognised back stamp of Hammersley China and had been used for at least 150 years by the Hammersley family in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. The Hammersleys also traded under the name Palissy. When Palissy stopped production in 1958 the Hammersely 'empire' was brought down. Hammersley china was a big family rival of the Aynesley family. The Aynesleys tried to buy out the Hammersleys several times.

Royal Worcester Spode acquired Palissy. Aynsley managed to eventually get their hands on the long sought after Hammersley China back stamp and trading name as well as some copyrighted patterns and decals. Anysley, by association, also acquired the rights to Royal Windsor, but have not done anything with Royal Windsor since the early 1960's.
