The Hidden Mountain Sanctuary of the Scarab Clan

The Scarab clan has existed as long as all the others clans. But when the other Kami took their own and started their lives in Rokugan, Akida took the Scarab into the mountains, through a very hazardous cave, and set up their home hidden away from the rest of the world. There they remained, even during the first Time of the Thunders. They had their own Thunder, but he led other Scarab bushi to fight against a powerful Dragon Oni that had been asleep under the mountain in which they lived. The Oni remains there to this day, as do the Scarab, to make sure it never awakens again, and to keep any of the minor minions of Fu Leng from entering from the second 'breeding pit' as it were. When the Day of Thunder came, again, the Scarab did indeed have a Thunder, Akida Sycon. When Fu Leng became mortal, the Dragon Oni awakened. Daikuni led a group of Scarab bushi into the depths of the mountain and were able to defeat it, and send it back into the slumber. Sycon barely survived the encounter, but he was the only survivor.

The Scarab remain in the mountains to this day. Able to live off their own supplies for the most part, though every now and again sending out smalls groups of bushi to lead raiding parties to gather more supplies from unaligned villages and ronin.

The Kolat seem to know just about everything. And yes, they did know about Akida in the beginning, but due to his methods they lost track of him. At this time they think they have relocated him, but are unsure if it would be safe to send in an operative into the Scarab, considering the Scarab's low numbers, and surely Akida would notice, since Yokuni could.

Rank One: "The Way of the Scarab"
   Daisho Technique as the Dragon Rank One ability

Rank Two: "One with the Elements"
   At this rank the bushi has learned to use their talents to move
   in ways that many would think would be impossible for a human to 
   do to. They may spend a void to gain a bonus of +5 to the TN to be
   hit, or 1k1 to hit and damage for one full battle. This can only
   be done once per battle. Using this power takes one round to prepare.

Rank Three: "The Blood of our Cousins"
   At this rank the bushi has learned how to create a Aspect Blade.
   Each blade is different, depending on what element the bushi is
   attuned to. The bushi has also learned how to strike twice in one round.

Rank Four: "The Righteous Will Never Fall."
   At this rank the bushi has learned how to survive injuries that would
   normally kill a lesser man. He is able to heal a number of wound levels
   equal to his void by doing nothing else for that round.

Rank Five: "Soul of the Dragon"
   At this rank the bushi can tap into his innermost reserves and preform
   feats that would surpass even the Unicorn. The bushi is able to use the
   rank two ability more the once per battle, and may start it without spending
   an action.

any 1 weapon, Kimono, and 2 Koku
