World War II/FX

By Megan Marie Irvin

3/9/98

Rollie plopped down on his couch exhausted. It had been along day at the set of the movie he and Angie had just finished working on, "From is time, To the past time".

A World War II movie. About a man in the present time went back to 1939, to the beginning of the war.

They'd been working on the film for two months. Now it was finished, and Rollie planned to take a long vacation now that it was over. This movie was one of the hardest films he and Angie had ever done the special effects for. Lot's of explosions.

Rollie drifted off to sleep thinking of places he could go on a vacation.

---------

Sometime later Rollie was awoken by someone kicking him in the side and shouting at him. "Wake up soldier! This is no time to be sleeping!"

Rollie opened his eyes becoming quickly confused. He was no longer in the shop anymore. It didn't look like he was in New York or even 1998 anymore either. Rollie was leaning against a barricade made out of sacks of sand.

Rollie looked up at the man who woke him up and was shocked to see who it was. Leo McCarthy, the deceased. "Leo..........?"

"Yeah, that's right. But to you, soldier, it's Captain McCarthy. Now up on your feet!" He ordered.

Rollie just stayed still. This has to be a dream, he thought. He was dreaming that he was a soldier.

"Soldier, when I tell you to do something, you do it. Now up on you feet!" Leo ordered, pulling Rollie out of his thoughts.

"What year is it?" Rollie asked getting up.

"1941. December 7th, 1941." He answered.

December 7th, 1941? Wasn't that the day of the attack at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii?

'OK, I'm dreaming about World War II.' Rollie thought to himself.

At that moment planes flying above them started firing on the boats that were docked at the beach.

Men from the bunkhouses rushed out starting to fire back.

Soldiers were falling down left and right of Rollie. Rollie jsut hide behind the barricade. Even if this was just a dream it sure didn't seem like one.

Half of the men were still fighting, some others were injured, the rest were dead. There were three faces of those dead men that Rollie knew. Manny ramirez, Rick ******, and Leo McCarthy.

-------

Rollie opened his eyes to find he was no longer on the beach, but he wasn't back at the shop either. He was looking up at the white ceiling. Looking around Rollie realized he was in a hospital.

"Hungry?" A voice asked. Rollie turned to see Angie next to him, wearing a nurse's uniform, and carrying a tray of food.

"Angie....?" Rollie asked, wondering if anyone else who he knew was going to appear in his crazy dream.

"Yeah, that's right. How do you know my name any ways?" She asked.

"I'm a friend," He replied.

"Oh. Well, you want something to eat or not?" She asked.

Before Rollie could answer the world went black.

Opening his eyes, Rollie found himself on his couch at the shop once again. "Oh, what a dream. I really do need a vacation."
