Adopting Older Cats

Kittens sometimes require frequent vet. visits for vaccines and other illnesses that affect kittens because of their under-developed immune systems. Kittens will need to be spayed or neutered at age 6 months. An older cat will most likely already be neutered or spayed, and vaccinated with it's shots up to date. Adult kitties will require a little time to adjust to their new homes and families. Some will need a couple of days, others may need up to a couple of weeks.
Consider adopting from a shelter or rescue organization. You will be saving a life and in return, you will have a pet that loves you unconditionally.
If you are seeking a purebred cat, many can sometimes be found at shelters and there are rescue groups for specific breeds. Purbred Turkish Angoras can be adopted here for a very low price.
Most of the cats that are up for adoption here, are show-quality, or close to it. They are kittens I have kept for myself to breed, and to show. I don't keep my breeders very long as I believe they have the right to be someone's pet during most of their lifetime. So, they only work for me for a short time.
Turkish Angoras do not mature into their beautiful full Angora coats until they are 2 or 3 years old. Turkish Angora kittens are very cute, as all kittens are, but the older a Turkish Angora is, the more beautiful it is.
Cats can live past 18 years old if kept indoors, and they become emotionally attached to their owners as soon as you open your hearts to them. So you don't really miss out on a lot by adopting an older Turkish Angora.
