The Mighty Quinn

The mighty who?

No, the Who are someone else entirely- we're talking about Quinn- Quinn the Eskimo.

Is this joker really an Eskimo?

Well, he likes to act like one. Truth to tell, no one knows his past except him. What few details that are known are familiar in the Plane-Hoppers' Alliance, of which he is a member.

So what's known about him?

Quinn's parents apparantly had his whole life mapped out for him from the day he first displayed an inkling of intelligence- they enrolled him in a magic university to become an archmage eventually. The stuff came easy to Quinn, but he had the build and inclination to be a fighter. So eventually, he ran away. Simple enough, no? He packed away all his spell books and dedicated himself to a warrior god, then spent quite some time wandering about fighting things. To this day, he's a top-notch warrior.

Traces of his mage training do stick with him- he remembers his spells and owns a couple of ships that are powered by magic. He'd rather use his sword, though. But his greatest strength, oddly enough, is not his abilities.

Oh?

Yup. You see, Quinn is not his real name- he got that on his first adventure as a plane-hopper among plane-hoppers. No one knows his real name, and he likes it that way. How he got his nickname, the Mighty Quinn, though, is the real story.

You might be familiar with the song "Quinn the Eskimo". Well, plane-hoppers often give each other nicknames based on common cultural experiences, like songs. Quinn recieved his nickname for two reasons:
1st, because his friends were flabbergasted at the thought of him being a mage. ("You've not seen nothing like the Mighty Quinn..."), and
2nd, because everything seems to just go right for Quinn. If he needs some vital piece of equipment for something, he finds it. Lying out in that abandoned field. Like the Tichoke, one of the largest ships that ever sailed or flew. He needed a ship, and just turned around and saw one sitting right over there. Just plain impossible things happen around Quinn.

Quinn has learned to live with being impossible- in fact, his symbol is two phoenixes facing each other. Everyone knows that there's only one phoenix in existance at a time, so it fits him.

Nowadays, Quinn is basically retired from the adventuring business. He may look a healthy middle age, but he's older than some dragons. However, he is still owner of The Tichoke, which Vixen captains, and she may pull him out of retirement to do something that involves the ship. Also, as a member of the PHA, Quinn occasionally helps out other members and always goes to the annual (more or less) conventions at The Great Con's.

When he's not doing anything, Quinn stays home. Home is an asteriod hovering on the edge of a dead magic zone in wildspace, covered in plants and with a good air supply, not too far from a convenient star. There, he has a small flitter to take out on trips when he feels the need. Physically, Quinn is a daunting size and usually carries a very large sword.
