My theater Involvement:
I got my start acting at IU in Bloomington. I was asked by some friends
to fill in doing a small singing role in a production of "A Little Match
Girl", and wound up being called by diffrent people at IU for tons of
roles.
Since that first role I have had parts as an extra in shows like "Fiddler
on the Roof" and "The Bartered Bride". I then had a bit mre of a
challenge when I was a singing alter boy in the opera "Tosca". My last
show at IU, and to date my best role, was when I played the abused
apprentice in "Peter Grimes".
After my time at IU, I got caught up in school and didn't do much in the
way of theater, until my 8th grade year, when I helped build sets and run
screw (Stage CREW, for all you non-techies out there) for the Bloomington
North High School production of "Fiddler on the Roof". The next year I
worked on the shows "Tonight at 8:30", "West Side Story" and North's
annual musical Review. The year after that ('98) I only worked one show,
"Crazy for You". During the run of that show, I met one of the actors
named Victor Kinzer. He told me that his father ran a small theatre
called the Bloomington Playwrights Project. I told him that I was a Techi
and would love to work there.
My first show at the BPP was called "A Tavern Story", the last
show of the '97-'98 season. The next fall I went back to school, and the
BPP. I worked on every show that season. They were "Puttin' On Our
Shorts", "Alice In Ireland", "Ebeneezer!", "Where Men Are Empty
Overcoats", the Mini Play Festival and "Stick Girl". At some point in
there, I became an official intern through my school, and was listed as
staff in all the programs. As an intern I helped with a couple of groups
that rented the BPP (only $95 a night).
My plans for the fall are to maybe get a paying job at another local
theater, as well as continue my work at the BPP.
(Quick note: Listen for my special AP line after Eddie dies. I'll find
you a special prize if you can discover the secret meaning of it, and it's
link to the BPP.)
My Rocky Involvement:
I first saw Rocky with one of my friends when we rented it from the
store. It intruiged me enough to download the script and learn some AP.
I first started going to the show at Hollywood Bar and Filmworks with
Victor Kinzer. I didn't play roles at first, but eventually was asked (or
begged) to play Dr. Scott. Since then, I've played Janet and the Crim. I
hope that I get to play everyone someday. Being an official theater
techie, I'm planning on getting some really anal props, costumes, and one
day (oh, joy) sets together. As you can see, Rocky is relativly new to
me. Come to the show and give me more to write about.
I love getting e-mail, but am sometimes slow to reply. Feel free to mail
me, but please no spam or chain letters. My friend Miss Maura sends me
enough of those.
