Situated in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, the Big Wave Bay is a less popular beach for local families because of its relative inaccessibility compared with Shek O nearby. Yet it is the ideal playground of sea-surfers, and is also quite popular among foreign residents. The proportion of foreign beach-users is quite high.
Apart from sea-surfing originated from the characteristic environment, many other activities can be found in the beach-swimming, sun-bathing, barbecue, ball games, fishing, etc. The sand is quite flat along the whole beach, which makes the sedimentary rock looks even more exciting.
