Illinois 178 connects I-80 to the 3 state parks: Starved Rock, Mathiessen and Buffalo Rock. It's more of a tourist route than anything. The only town it passes through, Utica, was recently wrecked by a tornado in 2003. Now it's doing a great job of rebuilding, and making the town nicer than it was before.

*-A brand-new indoor waterpark just opened at the corner of IL178 and IL71. It opened its doors only in July 2005!
