Illinois 13 is a quite long route running from the southeast suburbs of St. Louis southeast to Pinckneyville, then south with Illinois 127 to the Carbondale area, then east across the rest of the state to the Ohio River (KY border).

Intersections from west to east:

IL13 begins at IL163 with a multiplex with IL157 by Centreville

End signage on IL13 westbound

Then IL157 breaks off

After that, IL13 comes to an interchange with IL15

IL158 joins IL13 in Belleville really close to IL15

These two routes cross IL159 in Belleville

IL158 leaves IL13 while IL177 begins and follows IL158 east

IL13 joins IL15* near Belleville

IL15 breaks off and heads east at Freeburg

IL156 near New Athens

IL4 joins from the north at Marissa

IL13 leaves IL4 near Tilden

IL153 joins from the north at Coulterville

IL153 leaves to the south in Coulterville

IL154 joins from the southwest at Pinckneyville

(This sign faces the westbound traffic as IL13 and IL154 split, rather than join)

IL13 leaves IL154 and joins IL127 southbound in downtown Pinckneyville

IL13 ends at the KY border**.

It passes through these towns: Centreville, Belleville, Freeburg, New Athens, Lenzburg, Marissa, Tilden, Coulterville, Pinckneyville, Murphysboro, Carbondale, Marion, Harrisburg, Shawneetown, Old Shawneetown.

*- At this intersection, those going westbound on one route can't go eastbound on the other, and vice versa.

**- IL13 becomes Kentucky Route 56 after you cross east into Kentucky.
