'Streaks
stop LHS spikers
LAWRENCEVILLE — Visiting Martinsville
had the best of the action Thursday, and posted a three-game win over
Lawrenceville High School’s volleyball team in Little Illini Conference
play.
The Bluestreaks (7-10) outlasted the
Indians, 28-26, 12-25, 25-16. The loss evened the Indians’ mark at
11-11.
LHS coach Brooke Bishop said she was
happy with a number of individual performances, but was displeased with
the end result.
“It wasn’t what I was hoping for,”
she said. “Every time we have one like this, where we play well one
game but maybe lose the other, it just depends on the mood of the girls
that night, whether or not they’re going to pull the third game out.
That’s frustrating, whether your team has a lot of experience or not.”
A.J. Jordan led the LHS service
attack with 10 points, while Katie Racop, Sierra Sweeten and Sara Smith
served seven points apiece. Tracie Arnold and Chelsea Buher both added
three service points.
Buher had 11 kills and a pair of
blocks, while Sweeten and Arnold both added five kills. Tiffany Kessler
had three kills, while Racop contributed one. Smith and Racop both
served three aces, while Jordan netted one.
The Indians won the junior varsity
match, 25-4, 25-17.
The Indians will host Oblong Tuesday.
