.may.third.
.so i was in my fourth hour chem class a week or two ago and i just listened in on a side conversation going on while we were working on a lab. my teacher and a few students were talking about the passion of the christ. my teacher asked if the story or plot, if you will, was easy to follow. and this one girl replies, "well everyone knows the story of the bible," that just set me off. i cant stand when arrogant people make assumptions because they believe that everyone else in the world is . it just makes me feel distraught when i think about the fact that there are other people out there like her. who knows, maybe thats the way she was brought up. fine, thats all cool. but you should realize by the time that youre eighteen that not everyone believes in your god or reads your bible.
personally, im agnostic. i dont technically believe in god, and i wont go around dising people if they do. but like many others, i accept that not everyone thinks the same way as i do. take the pie chart below for example. as you can see, yes, a third of the world believes in christianity, but look at all the other sections on the chart. the sections that do involve religion are quite varied, each with their own set of beliefs and text. im almost positive that there are many variations in the bible from religion to religion. i only wish that girl would understand the simple fact that the bible that the passion of the christ was based off of, is not read by everyone.
personally, i've never read the bible. i have caught snipets of it right before dozing off in my grandparent's church. but of course, im not the only one in the world that hasn't read that book. and maybe if that certain person had thought twice about saying something completely senseless, then i wouldnt have to dream of taking her head and shoving it down a toilet until she can think straight.
