Using a hand saw.
One of the basic techniques in the event of hydraulic equipment failure, multiple vehicle accidents, or other hazards that make the use of normal extrication tools unavailable is the use of a hand saw. Of course no one likes to do this because it is time consuming and hard work but knowing how to do it just in case is crucial. |
Porta Powers
Once again like the hand saw, the porta powers are another option to "normal" procedures like the Jaws of Life rescue tool. Teamwork is important as often times you will need to employ several porta powers in unison to create the desired effect. |
Jaws of Life
Of course, one of the most well known rescue tools is the Jaws of Life. This tool has become the backbone of rescue in the fire service. Knowing how to operate and utilize its capabilties is crucial to anyone performing extrication and rescue operations. |
