Welcome to the website of the River Park Composite Squadron (in Chicago, IL). Civil Air Patrol is a program made was organized Dec. 1, 1941 (one week before the bombing of Pearl Harbor), as part of the U.S. Office of Civilian Defense, that teaches the youth (from age 12 or 6th grade to the age of 21 and at the age of 21, you can choose to become a senior member) of America in Aerospace Education, Emergency Services (When JKF Jr.'s plane crashed, Civil Air Patrol was there), and the highly respected Cadet Program which gives people a taste of the military lifestyle while teaching valuable skills in leadership. Some cadets choose to become a senior member when the reach the age of 18, some cadets choose a career in one of the armed services, and others decide to go into an aviation related career or use their leadership skills in another career. BUT PLEASE NOTE - THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO JOIN THE MILITARY IF YOU BECOME A CIVIL AIR PATROL MEMBER.
