I Want to Remember
Written 1/18/06 as a final farewell to my folks (but it was not my choice)
I want to remember, the way things used to be
I want to remember, things I forgot to see
I want to remember, how to forgive and to forget
I want to remember, to like people I never met
Growing up can be very hard
Getting burned by one’s you’ve trusted
It’s all in the luck of the draw
Never had fun, my feelings were busted
There’s too much pain when dealing with you
Don't you know, I never wanted to choose
its all a war I can only lose
and you wouldn't even give me a truce
So, I want to remember, why you gave up on me?
I want to remember, if you even believed?
I want to remember, the golden rule that you preached
I want to remember, the logic that is out of reach
And I want to remember, the times before our war
I want to remember, if you ever did this before?
Solo
Now tell me, how would you feel?
On my side of the fence, all alone
How quickly would you fix this deal?
And replace your sticks and stones …
I want to remember, why it took me so long
To stand up to you, even you know that you're wrong
I want you to remember, thats why I wrote this song
You broke our family to pieces, for no reason at all
